Re: Star King Beat Wood Shell

Thanks Ralf, very interesting. Although I have no photo of the badge I'm told it does have a Star badge. The shell looks very nice so it should be a nice sounding drum I suppose

Re: Star King Beat Wood Shell

that's true Mark. I guess what I meant when referencing New Zealand was the fact you'd have to import a shell with all the cost of shipping and currency exchange rates that entails. But, like you...

Re: Star King Beat Wood Shell

Thanks for that Mark. It seems like a lot of effort to convert a Star snare, especially in New Zealand, but you're probably right. I assume somebody had a damaged COB Star shell and switched over to...

Re: Star King Beat Wood Shell

Thanks. it's hard to say and I can't find any photos to compare it with. There are a couple on Ralf's Star website but with no internal shots. The catalog is very hard to read but maybe "9ply...

Star King Beat Wood Shell

These seem to be very rare as I can find very little on the internet about a wood shell version. It does appear in a catalog but finding examples of real ones in the flesh is proving difficult....

Re: This is the Display Your Trixon Drums Thread

San Diego band the Schizophonics using my early Telstar kit in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand two weeks ago. Really good band and the kit was perfect for their sound and vibe.

Leedy Broadway Dual Full Dress

Sold

This drum is in New Zealand but with our dollar currently on the slide against the USD it might be worth selling right now.

It's from 1937 and is 6.5x14. Very original apart from the...

Re: Yahama Drums??

Given the large number of stencil names at the time it wouldn't surprise me if there was a Yahama brand

Re: Premier 4 Piece Info Needed

nice set. 54 outfit seems accurate and late 50s- early 60s with that Super Ace snare. Shells will be birch with beech reinforcing rings. The sizes for the toms will be pre-international but...

Re: Fibes Bass Drum Spur Ends

I had one made for me and it's pretty hard to tell the difference compared to the factory part when screwed into the leg.

Re: Help identifying 60s/70s Premier kit please

if the bass drum is 20", as I suspect, it's a 303 outfit. If it's 22" it's a a B303. My guess is the toms are 12" 14" and 16" making it pre 72 (when the 13" tom was made available as mentioned) but...

Re: Drum Companies and Their Worst Ideas

That video is gold. It appears to show that a rope tied around a snare drum has absolutely no affect on the sound. Genius!
I would suggest that it would be more successful at removing over-tones if...

Re: Late '60s LM402s

I didn't think they were that uncommon but now you mention it I can't remember the last time I saw one. I often see 68/69 KS badge 400s though.

This is my Oct 68 402

Re: Yamaha Project - Soooo Dirty

it's finished, or as finished as I can get it without replacing loads of parts. It's been a mission but it's now a good players kit. I tried to refurbish and retain as many original parts as possible...

Re: Ludwig imperial lug breakage

I've had multiple similar failures with 80s bowties on Acrolites. Oddly the Blacrolite lugs always seem rock solid. As KO said, probably a rogue supplier in the 80s

Re: Dynasonic 7 line 6.5 purchase. There's a catch

and purely by chance I bought a 5" version locally which turned up today (it's not often you see a Dynasonic of any vintage for sale here). It's not like I was looking for a Dyna but they seemed to...
