Re: Removing surface scratches from a vintage Paiste Giant Beat?

If the scratching is widespread enough then my first thought is to not worry about it. You wouldn’t want to risk damaging or losing the patina. You can’t replicate 50 years of mellowing and...

FOUND: Ludwig 12x8 Project Shell

I’m looking for a 12x8 Ludwig orphan. 3 ply only and no structural damage. The more barebones, the better. Preferably just a bare shell, but anything needing a rewrap is fine. Not worried about lugs...

Re: 15” 2002s

Would you guys think $100 is overpaying?

Also, this could get me halfway to a Sound Edge pair. The SE bottoms come up on eBay pretty often, and usually for less than what they’re asking for this...

Re: 15” 2002s

They’re not Sound Edge, just regular hats. Does that change your feelings?

Re: 15” 2002s

Do you think the sound is effected or does the drilling just reduce their value?

15” 2002s

There’s a pair of ‘70s 15” 2002s (not Sound Edge) in good condition at a pawn shop. They’ve been drilled but appear to be in great condition otherwise. They’re asking $200. Fair price or would you go...

Re: Offer Advice?

Thanks for your input. Is that based on condition? I feel I don’t see 20 floors come around that often and figured it would impact the price pretty significantly.

Anyone have an idea? Know it’s a little soon for a bump, but I’m eager for input.

Offer Advice?

I’m trying to complete a full set of B/O champagne sparkle toms. I’m only missing a 14x14 and 20x18. A guy online is selling a 20x18 floor and I believe it’s the first I’ve ever seen. With shipping,...

Re: Identify Bass Pedal

The uprights look very wide, do they not? Unless I’m confusing them with something else in the picture, they seem to angle out and then up. Does anyone else see that?

Identify Bass Pedal

What do y'all think this pedal is? From behind it's clearly a Rogers footboard, but it doesn't look like the uprights belong to a Rogers. My dad, who's in the pictures, says he remembers having a...

Re: Why Play Vintage?

Shells got thicker, hardware got heavier, drums got deeper, logos got bigger, and bass drum resonant heads went from white to black. The drums of the '80s were louder and projected better, but they...

Re: Why Play Vintage?

Because Pearl ruined drums in the '80s.

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

Also hard to ignore the thousands and thousands of Yankee fans chanting "f*** Altuve" so loudly that it was heard clearly on the TV broadcast.

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

It's a reflection. Odd that it's there in all pictures, but the shape and location changes.

Re: Question on a 20x18 Ludwig F.T.

Very interesting. The hoops add a half inch to the height of a drum (I can't remember what they do to the width), so unless they're measuring poorly and also rounding up, that's definitely an 20x18,...

Re: Question on a 20x18 Ludwig F.T.

The pictures leave a lot to be desired, but I see no reason to think it's a re-wrap. A re-wrap in butcher block would be unlikely, given how unwieldy the cortex finishes are. I do think it's a 16x16,...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

People like this seller should be captured and studied, to determine how to keep the world from getting any more of them.
