Re: eBay moment

Given that these items never sell, do you suppose they are doing it to see if we react here and then have a big laugh. It's like the $14,000 OBP 14x14 in the other post. Totally absurd.

Re: Original Dynasonic Still Valuable

My threshold was $200 knowing it could cost $200 more for a Dyna badge. :)

Re: The 14x14 Remains Highly Sought

Not sure if they are overrated or just overpriced, but that seller goes by Strum und Bang, so that alone is a clue they don't get it. Strum and Roll might have been a better choice.

Re: Ingenuity in Vintage Land

They say in the description that one set of threads is reversed. Not all that difficult to do if you are a competent machinist.

Re: eBay moment

Watch to see if it sells at that price. If so, head to Ace and make up several and put them on the Bay to see how you do. Could be an employment opportunity. Excited

Original Dynasonic Still Valuable

Even though the Dynasonic has been reproduced and offered at, perhaps, 30% of the peak value of the originals, the originals still seem to be holding a pretty good value. Notice this one that is...

Re: Ingenuity in Vintage Land

I didn't take time to notice that. Very wild. Those may be the closest two drums I've ever seen. Must have come from the same school or marching band.

Re: The 14x14 Remains Highly Sought

It appears to have been discounted because the paper label is missing. It is the style I like with the small lugs placed at the same distance from the hoop as is the case on a 12x8. Much nicer...

Re: Ingenuity in Vintage Land

Yes, a good price. Drum Stripper Inc could probably get double that for the parts alone.

Re: The 14x14 Remains Highly Sought

Like you, I once ordered a new Ludwig kit. It was all black lacquer except the snare was purple shadow or something like that. I tried to put the sizes in the middle of standard sizes for the most...

Rogers 18" Floor toms

When did Rogers use 4 legs on 18" floor toms. I noticed a 9/72 recently that had only 3 legs and was surprised to see that.

Re: This is the Display Your Rewrapped Vintage Drums Thread

It may well last more than another 50 years this time. People have a much higher degree of respect for these vintage instruments now and a Gretsch Progressive Jazz set will be at the top levels of...

Ingenuity in Vintage Land

Should we start a thread for Vintage Ingenuity in Action? Or maybe it should be under the heading of Vintage Drums Meets EPA for Recycling? Very cool in any event, except I wouldn't want to have to...

The 14x14 Remains Highly Sought

The 14x14 remains quite strong in the market. I paid the same amount for my entire set, but it was a Rolling Stone set (insides are painted black). I think the sound was improved. Laughing H

Leedy and Ludwig

I saw this over the weekend. My first thought was, that's going to go in a heartbeat at that price. What a find. Totally beautiful setup. I was sorely tempted. Hopefully one of us got it.

Re: This is the Post a Picture of Your Drum Instructor Thread

ATeam,

Thanks for posting this. And yes, Merrimack Valley is my original home turf, and Merrimac to be specific. I was raised less than 200 feet from the River. That was back before they cleaned...

Re: Rogers Swivo Era Swan Leg Stands

Nice looking setup. Is that a burgundy sparkle finish or is that another sparkle and the photo is making it look burgundy?

Re: Big Swing Face Album

I'm going to submit this drum to the International Society for Recycling. There has to be an award in there somewhere for that drum. Certainly can be gigged. And yes, that is a beard if there ever...

Re: COW Dynasonic???

The subject of COW came up recently. Someone who after many years found a nearly identical set of Slingerland COWs to the one they had back in the late 60's/early 70's.

I recall the first time I...

Amazing to have had Roy Burns as a teacher. But that's CA for you. You folks out there had it all in those days, including the Rogers Drum Company!
