Re: Ludwig Pre Serial Bass Drum rebuild

I have had the opportunity to play this kit and it sounds fantastic.
They are fat and warm sounding. The bass drum is punchy with a really big sound. Very happy with how this turns out.
I matched...

Re: Ludwig Pre Serial Bass Drum rebuild

Ok, I couldn't do it.
The bass drum is just too beautiful as is and I think I can remove the stains from the bottom of the drum.
I managed to locate a 13 and 16 to match. As I stated, the BD is...

WTB: 60's Ludwig Floor Tom in Champagne Sparkle

Hi,

I'm putting together a Super Classic setup from orphans.
Have a pre serial 22" BD, A '65 13" tom, just need a 16" FT with Resocoat interior to finish this off.

Patient but hopeful.

Re: Ludwig Pre Serial Bass Drum rebuild

This is moving along as I am almost finished collecting hardware and parts.
I have done my best to stay with early 60s lugs, mounts, spurs etc;
The drum will never be "all original" but the vintage...

Re: Ludwig Pre Serial Bass Drum rebuild

Mitch, thanks!!
Good advice on the rail mount.
I might just go with the 1st gen. tom mount and keep it legit.
Just scored 20 classic lugs from '64 in VGC.
Decided to go with the new Ludwig...

Re: Converting marching bass drum

I painted the hoops and applied the inlay strips. I also scored all new tension rods as 90 percent of the original ones were bent out of shape.
Mounted everything, tuned up the drum and it just...

Re: Converting marching bass drum

I'm currently completing a project like this. I scored a 26X14 for a steal on TheBay.
It's an 80's era drum. Had a few holes in to from harness mounts and whatnot so the virgin
dilemma was off the...
