Dang! Thats pretty! I have a 1940 (My birth year) Ludwig 6.5 wood snare on it's way to me as we speak. (So to speak). The wrap has been stripped on mine, but it's my birth year drum! Can't wait....

I don't think tuning has anything to do with it. Temp and humidity issues over time and dis-similar woods are most often the culprit IMHO.

Looks like Tama lugs. Probably not US Camcos. I have had problems with these lugs breaking.
