Re: Mij i.d.

Pearl also did grey painted interiors, but these do appear to be Star.

Re: I may have solved my Zim-Gar bass head logo quandry

Yeah, Zim-Gar is one of those with lots of logo variations, but none of which I have found on an authentic, period reso head. have several collected, and may just choose one, though that is dicy -...

Re: Dig this

Gotta say; I think I'm with thisbright14 on this one. You've got to be careful, and follow your instincts sometimes. :2Cents:

Re: Mysterious drum set - help needed

Nice looking kit. Please forgive my opportunism but, regardless of whether you plan to keep, or sell, this might help to elevate some confusion. Did this one as a request, and I don't think I've...

Lugs are Hoshino, 'shark tooth'.

Re: Vintage Drum identification help

Look like Pearl President style lugs. Are the interiors of the shells regular wood, or are they something else?

Re: Ludwig Vintage 22" Bass Drum Head

If you're looking for authenticity, then yes, this would be your best choice. Logo is smaller than current version, but was standard size for all Ludwig bass reso heads for that era, until they...

Re: Any Olympic guys out there?

I've got a Pioneer like that - never could get a sound I liked out of it. Suppose it depends what you're looking for.

Re: Any Olympic guys out there?

Sorry, no pics of snare bed, and I've got the drum sounding the way I like it, so I really don't want to disassemble it. Pretty straight forward; sanding block was the right size, so I just...

Re: Any Olympic guys out there?

Happen to find a couple of pics. Got the snare and kick drum, along with a a good size load of various, old drum stuff I purchased locally a couple of years ago. mostly MIJ stuff, and a lot of...

Re: Any Olympic guys out there?

Took a look, and mine does have a muffler - oddly enough, located next to the badge. Seems to be original, and is different than yours. Larger felt, and about 1" diameter, solid chrome knob. My...

Re: Any Olympic guys out there?

My 6-lug had no snare bed whatsoever. I basically just sanded the snare bed with a sanding block. Made all the difference.

...also have the matching, 20" kick drum - Aquarian Super Kick II, sounds excellent. What info are you looking for? Olympic were Premiers, economy line from what I understand. Same birch shells,...

Re: Any Olympic guys out there?

I have this exact same snare drum. Didn't think too much of it until I shaved a snare bed, and now it's one of my personal favorites. Liked it so much, I found an 8 lug version, and bought it -...

Re: Eric Carr KISS miniature replica Crazy Nights drum set

Nice attention to detail. I've made a couple of models myself, so I know how time consuming it can be. What are your plans for the completed model? Also, what paint are you using for your chrome?...

Re: Price Check

No one's asked if the cymbals come with it. Guy has a similar kit listed locally, (same era Pearl, and colour) currently asking $750.00 Cdn, down from $900. Has been listed for at least a year now....

Re: Gretsch RB Bop Clone

Kit looks great - my concern would be; why do you need to treat the inner shells, and particularly fabricate the paper tags, unless you have intentions of misrepresenting the kit...? To the casual...

Re: Zimgar

What is it tells you this kit is Star? I have a kit with the same lugs and Ts, badged 'Crown' and I've not been able to place it. I've had Star, Pearl, and Hoshino kits, and this one doesn't match...

Re: Street-found MIJ Tempo floor

Appears to be Hoshino from the hardware. I wouldn't expect much upon removing the heads - typical Luan, and bearing edges optional apparently, (judging from recent posts). Nice looking drum, and...

Re: Help me identify my vintage Pearl drumset!

Absolutely. Always thought that was a cool design - only trouble is that they aren't true 'vintage'. This is my second attempt actually. The first MIJ kit I modified like this, I'm currently using...
