Ya that is a good catch. I especially liked the one with all the women fawning over him at the mushroom farm. LOL

The Sonor Museum forum seems to be down. I was going to check the classified for you....oh well.

Cleaning original mylar head

I apologize in advance because I know I have seen info on here before but I could not find anything in the Restoration and Help section.

Re: 18" flat ride - Golden Bell?

I've done some cross checking and the 7 sound set was introduced in 1964. I am still looking for the Space Sound advert.

Re: 18" flat ride - Golden Bell?

I've heard as early as '64 when Morello met with Toomas Paiste.
Here is a '68 catalog scan which shows it in the Seven Sound Set.

Re: 18" flat ride - Golden Bell?

This is a very curious cymbal. Please keep us updated on what you find.
I am particularly interested in the vintage of this cymbal if and when you find out that info.

It is widely accepted that...

Re: 20" Paiste 2002 flat ride.

I am a flat ride fan although I don't own one at the present time. That is a great one for sure. I'm sure you paid a pretty penny for it though. Thanks for posting the pic and congrats!

Re: My home made china!

I've done the same thing with a few cymbals. In the end you get more of a trash sound than a pure china sound. It's more of an effects cymbal. Try a stack, combining it with an inverted small...

Re: So I got this cymbal off EBAY....

To be fair, I think what you are doing is great....rescuing cymbals from the ash heap.
I like the fact that you are rehammering and considering re-purposing these cymbals. Bravo to you! Clapping...

Re: Dent repair

You can locally anneal brass/bronze and re-temper. This is what is done when repairing dents in horns. Let's be clear, tempering with cymbal materials is done through physical hammering/work...

Re: So I got this cymbal off EBAY....

I tend to agree on the value of repaired vs cracked.
Since it's a 22, it could be cut down to a 20 or possibly a 21 quite nicely and might be of more value at that point.

It appears to have...

Re: Unstamped 602 ?

I've never seen it. Paiste is pretty anal about their stamping....but anything can happen.

If you can post pics of hats top and bottom sides of both it might help.

Re: Is this accurate ??

So that stamp fell down a second time then?
Possible, but they don't seem to line up very well.
I'll defer to the experts tho.

Re: Is this accurate ??

The lower section of the stamp looks to be very heavy on the bottom and light on the top indicating that it was on a pretty severe angle during stamping. So possibly the marks could be from the...

Re: Paiste 602 vs Zildjian A ride?

That's not too heavy. My F602 medium ride is 2415 g and I know another guy has one that is 2480 g. Mine is definitely not a "heavy" ride. It is warm, shimmery and washy. Still has good stick...

Re: cymbal tape?

Yeah, any kind of tape, whether it leave a residue or not, is going to leave areas which don't tarnish/age at the same rate as the rest of the cymbal. Even cymbals with protective coatings change...

Re: Vintage Premier Signia Snare Drum Value?

Yes, I guess I'm not sure if it could be considered vintage but it is a great drum. Top of the line Premier for the time. I agree with relayer's proposed value. Could even be a bit higher if in...
