Re: Los Angeles Camcos, circa 1972

One last photo with 20" camco bass drum. Photo taken at night, backyard gig, private party, not the greatest detail. Didn't use the larger side tom.

Re: Los Angeles Camcos, circa 1972

I realize that the photos aren't so good, particularly the interior, so here is a better one of the interior with the serial number written in red marker 729.

Re: Los Angeles Camcos, circa 1972

Here are a few pictures of the drums, individually. I also have a 20" bass drum which is not pictured. Looks like someone wrote the number 729 in red marker on the interior. Crazy, but I never...

Re: Los Angeles Camcos, circa 1972

So much Camco Love! Thanks. You know they were stolen last year. I called every pawn shop and used music place in Los Angeles. I was sooo depressed about losing these drums. I had no idea Camcos were...

Re: Instanbul 20" ride from mid 1980s

Again. I am impressed with your knowledge of cymbals. You have identified the approx. year this cymbal was made. I'm curious why you suppose people don't like the heavy cymbal? (Don't get me wrong,...

Re: 18" K Zildian, instanbul, cracked, with rivets

Dear Zenstat,

Wow. Thanks for your in-depth reply. I will get in touch with your cymbal repair man. I do love the feel and color of the old cymbal. Btw, I take it the medium stamp means it's a...

Re: Instanbul 20" ride from mid 1980s

Here I've uploaded a few pictures. Is this cymbal considered Vintage? Is it worth more than a couple hundred dollars. I've had it for more than thirty years, but would be willing to part with it for...

Re: 18" K Zildian, instanbul, cracked, with rivets

Thanks for your reply. In fact it looks like someone did put rivets at the edges of the cracks to stop it. I then--stupidly?--added more rivets around the edges. Guess I was going for that dark jazzy...

Post Los Angeles Camcos, circa 1972

I bought these drums used when I began high school. I knew the Porcaro family in Los Angeles and Joe used to play a nice blonde Camco set so I wanted Camcos. They are black.

So, I still play this...

Question 18" K Zildian, instanbul, cracked, with rivets

I've got this cymbal. I came upon it in the early to mid 70s. It has a pretty significant crack but sounds pretty good in a crazy, cracked way. I'm wondering what to do with it. Fix the crack--is it...

Question Instanbul 20" ride from mid 1980s

Hi,
I'm thinking of selling this cymbal that I bought from a Turkish student at the Berklee College of Music back in the day. It's pretty thick. It's got a great bell and signatures from Mehmet and...

Re: Camco Drums Are Worth A Fortune!

On July 4 some thieves broke into my garage and stole my drums which were in cases. Well, the drums happened to be my LA Camco set (circa 1971-72), 20" bd, 12", 13" and 16" ( I think) toms (along...
