Re: Let's see your drum room!!

Can’t get anything past you, Mark! Yes, that’s a 1957 New Yorker with the 12x22 bass, 8x12 tom and a COB Supra. I added the 1961 Slingerland marching tenor as a floor tom (the Ludwig legs and...

Re: Let's see your drum room!!

My Room is more of a Drum Area. I share the large Rec Room in the basement with the TV and some furniture.

Re: Performance Disaster

We played a summer festival at a nearby city yesterday. The city employed a “professional” sound company. Since I sing occasionally (not particularly well), they set me up with a mic. I typically...

Re: Let's see your drum room!!

Mark,
Wow! So neat and tidy, and just beautiful!

What are those discs made of between your drums? Plexiglass? Fiberglass? Lexan? Glass? Very classy and impressive room.

Re: Slingerland Schooling Needed

I believe it actually states it somewhere in Rob Cook’s The Slingerland Book, but it’s just mentioned deep in a paragraph somewhere. I remember reading it once upon a time but couldn’t find it this...

Re: Paint stripping over a wrap

In Photo #2 I can clearly see brush strokes, but that may have been just to clean up missed spots or drips.

VDF User Black Label just did a spectacular job of removing paint from a pearl Ludwig...

Re: Performance Disaster

It is that very thought that prompted me to specify their MUSIC-related disaster!

Performance Disaster

So we were playing a gig yesterday: a downtown farmer’s market. I am playing my 1957 Ludwig New Yorker. The tom mounts on the bass drum via a spade-type clip. I think we were playing “Gimme Gimme...

Re: The Most Recorded Snare

I’m with you guys. The fact that prolific studio players used the Supra is good enough for me!

The Most Recorded Snare

I had always heard that the Ludwig Supraphonic 400 was the “Most Recorded Drum in History.” Recently, someone asserted that the Ludwig Acrolite snare held that title.

I don’t know if anyone truly...

Re: Rogers Celebrity - 45 Years Ago!

Mark,
I was in a band in the late 70’s called “The Louisiana Purchase.” We played Dixieland in the SF Bay area, and I think we also played at a function sponsored by the ‘Society’ too.

My dad...

Wow, JR, those are really WHITE MP for 66’s. Were they kept in cases all of their lives?

Just got home from a gig using my ‘57 New Yorker. Got some compliments on the sound. Just the three...

Re: How To Ruin A Great Day

Yeah, I plan to just hang on to them. They may never leave my house until after I croak. I already ordered the weldon and watched a few videos on how to do it. Maybe they won’t keep cracking like...

Re: How To Ruin A Great Day

The guy I traded with was stand-up. He was mortified and offered to ‘untrade’ them. I’m keeping ‘em.

I managed to sneak up on them today and played them gently. They sound great!

Re: How To Ruin A Great Day

Like all photos of clear items, it’s kinda hard to see.

The first photo is of the left spur mount, taken from the front (reso side) of the drum, through the head.

The second photo is of the...

How To Ruin A Great Day

A guy offered to trade his 5-piece Slingerland Phantoms for my Slingerland Classic Rock Set. I go and check them out: they were almost perfect! The snare has been repaired along it’s seam, but it...
