Re: 1946 Leedy Shell Info Needed

Interesting because I just picked up a 1939 dated Leedy Reliance snare, 14x6.5, and it definitely is mahogany on the inside. I would assume that a late 40's would also be the same, but yours looks...

Re: Rogers Fullerton Green Label

THIS is why we pay Mike the big bucks around here. Excellent proof.

As an aside, I predict we will see a new cottage industry/practice in vintage drum restorations - exposing just your inner...

Re: 1960s Super Classic - unususal dampening

Re: Dating Rogers Holiday kit and Dyna-Sonic snare

Looks original to me. The floor tom on my Cleveland silver sparkle kit has gotten almost this dark.

Re: Slingerland White Satin Flame

I think both you and the seller did well on the transaction. You got a great kit with plenty of opportunity for sweat equity, and he didn't 'give them away', but clearly didn't want to work...

Re: Calling all 70's Ludwig Shell Experts

Yes, isn't that a modular mount plate (triangular) we see inside the small tom? If so, early 80s purchase, not early 70s.

Re: Rogers Value

I agree with Amos, if the wrap is toast, do you really want to put ~$300 more into it? Only if you are dying to have a Rogers in the wrap of your choice. But you think you'll recoup that from a...

Re: Was Buddy Really the Greatest?

That's a silly question.

But it really looks strange watching him play with matched grip!

Now Johnnyboy, you know very well that is a good deal, and you do that just to invoke a little jealousy amongst us. Mission Accomplished!! ;^)

Seriously, that wont take much work/parts to bring it...

Re: Thoughts on this Slingerland Set for sale

3 ply are the bomb. Looks like a good value with everything included. But $850 would be better!

1930s Slingerland snare with four point strainer?

So this snare is coming my way. The strainer says slingerland sure grip, but I can't find any reference to a 4 pt strainer. Can any one help identify? Seems like the 'Professional' model from the 30s...

Re: Roger Wood Dynasonic Natural Finish

I can't imagine a true factory natural Dyna would have an outer ply with a horizontal splice the way this shell does. If this is a Dyna, I think it was originally wrapped.

Re: Slingerland Tom Mount Hardware

You should look into the Super Set-o-matic mount offered in the late 70s. Uses two single SoM arms. Same tom mount as the SoM, but much more maneuverable. You won't need to drill extra holes. Not...

Re: Matched date ludwig wmp kit value

If you were selling them on the open market, of course matched dates increase the value of a collectable kit. Now will your friend agree, that's the question. But then you have to ask, why does he...
