Re: Hello......Is This Thing Working?

I read all of TommyP's posts. Unless I disagree (rarely) I do not respond. TommyP certainly doesn't need my approval. As to posting traffic, there are other sites with a lot more posting traffic...

Re: Hello......Is This Thing Working?

That serial would be expected for ~'73-'74. Around this time the tone control changed from the large knob j-hook to the large solid knob tone control. Still collecting serial vs. tone control data...

Re: Hello......Is This Thing Working?

That is a #140 Aluminum snare. A "Rapid" strainer would be original. You want one like this with the three hole slider: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/drcjw/article_5_strainers_rapid-5.html ...

Re: Shell ply query

Re: Slingerland snare drum on eBay!

Mark, you're almost certainly correct that this is a 3-ply shell. Per Dr. CJ Wenk there were very few solid shells after early '65 and solid shells should not have date stamps. This one has a JUN...

Re: Slingerland Deluxe Student Sparkling Green Pearl

Thanks Kevin, I thought I could make out an inward bent slider on the strainer (used on drums without bridges). Is this a 6-1/2" shell or 7"?

Re: Why do I trust Ebay sellers?

I had the same issue as you. I contacted eBay and they told me how to find the link. It was not completely intuitive and luckily I've only had to use it once.

Re: Why do I trust Ebay sellers?

The buyer can still leave feedback after a case has been opened (and decided upon) however the link to leave feedback is harder to find. As others have said open an "item not as described" case and...

Re: Slingerland Sparkle Orange 14x20" Bass Drum

Just FYI, the badge on your drum is the earlier Chicago badge ('56 - '59). The wrap is the confetti version of "Sparkling Gold". GLWS.

Re: Slingerland Deluxe Student Sparkling Green Pearl

kevins, I'm curious, why are you identifying the deep WMP snare in you collection as a "student model RK"? I'm with Mark it appears to be a professional level RK. Did you add the snare bridges?

a) Strip old finish and repaint.
b) Wrapping is possible but be aware the added thickness of the wrap may cause head fitment issues.
