Re: The True Go kit

You can kind of see how the old kits were set up to showcase a contraption at at a time like an orchestral percussionist might approach it and less set up to be played in the much more specialized,...

Re: Ever see this before? 2 badges on bass drum

Can you take a picture of the outside of the bass drum shell where the spurs come out? I am still studying this and cooking up a theory of what might be going on.

Re: Please help me to id this kit!

I dunno...the concert toms appear to have a metal band on the bottom ...not Ludwig.
Lugs on toms look triangular....Sonor, maybe? Something seems European about this kit...but can't be sure.

Re: Ever see this before? 2 badges on bass drum

I'd need to see the interiors and many more detailed close up pics.....I have my suspicions what this might be but I will hold off for now.

Re: The newbie and the 1950ís Slingerland Drum Set

Hi, Jeff

Great looking kit. You really don't see too many kits which are that complete with hardware and cymbals anymore. That, and the "Duco" finish is in really nice shape and not all flaky like...

Re: Ok, here's another "funny" Jazzette (not)

Absolutely, right, K.O. and there are plenty of threads around here that aren't related to catalogue referenced kits. When it's not my thing, though, I tend to leave those discussions to others....

Re: Slingerland Stage Band

Here is a really interesting video I just now found....baby Dodds.....terrible sound overdub, but lots of cool shots of an old timer playing old timer style on an old timer drum set with the drums...

Re: Ok, here's another "funny" Jazzette (not)

Absolutely, jaghog....Thank you.

*EDIT I know that if I pull out that old Ludwig catalogue and see that Octa-Plus in walnut cortex sitting there, it's going to transport me back in time faster...

Re: Posting Videos

In my opinion, it's nice to be able to post a video now and then, in a thread where it might relate to the subject at hand. For example, if the subject is the Ludwig Jazzette kit (posted in whichever...

Re: Ok, here's another "funny" Jazzette (not)

And let me once again remind you that this subject has ZERO to do with what the intended purpose of that material was. If we were living back in the 50's and 60's or 70's then this discussion...

Re: Ok, here's another "funny" Jazzette (not)

I sometimes watch Jay Leno's Garage....not a big Leno fan or anything....I just like to look at his car collection....some of the nicest vintage and experimental prototype cars to be seen anywhere on...

Re: Ok, here's another "funny" Jazzette (not)

Perhaps.

Perhaps, if they don't have access to the old catalogues, though, then they could come here, where lots of members went to a great deal of time and trouble and regularly contributed time...

Re: Ok, here's another "funny" Jazzette (not)

I am not equating anything you or I or anyone else plays as being wrong because it happens to go against the catalogue suggestions. I'm saying that any configuration that you or I may come up with to...

Re: Slingerland Stage Band

That's Slingerland's blue sparkle. I think they were the only U.S. company to use that shade of blue -I could be wrong. I always liked it a lot.

Re: Shell type identification help

Well, in one light the color looks more like maple...but in the other picture, the greenish tinge makes them look like poplar. Grain can be variable in both species. I'd have to be able to see better...

Re: Snare Wire Buzz!

No way around it....some notes are going to trigger your drum to vibrate and buzz. I just bought a subwoofer for my stereo and now certain notes make my windows vibrate! You might try changing the...

Re: Ok, here's another "funny" Jazzette (not)

Is a Jazzette just the shell pack drums? Or, is it the 12, 14, 18(X12) AND the Supra AND the proper hardware -including the stands- a Jazzette?

*EDIT In fact, now that I've been thinking about...

Re: Ok, here's another "funny" Jazzette (not)

All due respect, but since you're not a famous drummer, it's irrelevant what you preferred to use for playing gigs. No collector is looking for "your" preferred configuration. Again, no disrespect...

Re: Ok, here's another "funny" Jazzette (not)

Not me...not at all. If it was Ringo's actual kit, then sure. But a copy? nah. This is an entirely other area of collecting, by the way -and one that I'm not into. These types of collectibles have...
