Re: eBay listing that infuriates me!

Well, Mark, you're in a small camp.

You're all correct @ the 15k kit. That's just checking if the pasta's done by throwing it on the ceiling on the seller's part. He's gonna keep eating hairy...

Re: This is very funny. I hope that the drummer was OK

The comment is ecumenical and not aimed at any one individual but at the full scope of religions as a hole (sic). I would think any “believer” would certainly allow me my beliefs while simultaneously...

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

Baffles me that anyone would go to such a degree to fake this kind of $hit. The cost to produce the shell, buy the hardware, badge ... gee, what does that sell for? Certainly not more than the repro...

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

UPDATE from Reverb (would definitely love to hear from the experts here) :

"Thanks for sending over the photo of the badge. After reviewing, it seems that this drum is not a genuine Ludwig...

Re: This is very funny. I hope that the drummer was OK

That is the absolute best unstaged visual metaphor I've ever seen. Also highlights the complete incompetence of "ordained" church "employees" who do nothing when right action is called for. Would be...

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

Ahhh, the fun never ends ...

Contacted by Reverb that they've been alerted that snare's a reproduction. Which would explain why I got it so cheaply ... until you take a look at the badge. From...

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

Ahhh ... too funny, Mark! That IS my snare.

Another consideration (smoking gun?) : the reason the lugs appear off is if they were centered over the layers THEN the DRILL HOLES WOULD BE EXACLY...

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

Here's the thing : whatever the GIGANTIC lugs I'm seeing on examples online were clearly NOT used on this one.

My assessment : custom order w/ the usual smaller lugs seen on 5x14" snares.

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

All panels = 2.25".

I'm not sure there are any issues with this snare. Again, it's near mint. How much of a Ludwig assembly rookie would you have to be to eff up so badly.

This is where seeing...

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

Here's another seam pic.

Incidentally, trying to find 70's 6.5x14 Vistalites online has been a bit tricky (hence my inquiring). Most that show up are the reissues.

So are these a bit on the...

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

To your question : the snare's nearly mint from roughly the mid-70's. There's zero indication it's been modified.

Also : the lug median meets the center of the YELLOW layer where the "LUDWIG"...

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

Excellent eye, Mark. Thank you!

It's a very clean snare w/ mid-70's badge and I see no reason to believe it wasn't glued together by Ludwig.

Would love to hear thoughts from others on this one...

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

... so is this a CUSTOM snare?

Asking to nail down exactly what it's called. Seems a Tequila Vista comes in RED/ORANGE/YELLOW.

This one's ORANGE/YELLOW/CLEAR ~

Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

1) Is this a tequila snare even with the clear bottom layer (typically yellow);

2) The shell depth = 6.75". Is it the same w/ 60's shells that it is still a 6.5" even though not technically 6.5"?...

Re: Opinions: Hawthorne Drum Shop

Hey Chris,

You have way more inventory than I do so I thought maybe it's a matter of time. As in, not enough time to take pics of everything with a hoop off & a lug removed.

Those who do not...

Re: Opinions: Hawthorne Drum Shop

If you think about it for a minute, and if you're correct about those being for interior shots ONLY (you're right), then it's even more incriminating.

MOST people cannot tell that the wrap's...

Re: Opinions: Hawthorne Drum Shop

Mr. Hawthorne can ask whatever price he wants. I'm sure he's thought about it.

As a dealer myself, on a way smaller scale, selling mostly collector and not much "player" junk, I love putting BIN...

Re: Opinions: Hawthorne Drum Shop

I consider a 96.5% ebay RATING to be VERY poor.

I don't recall what it was about since it's been a while since I messaged him @ a drum, but it matters little how "nice" a person is if they are...

Thank you. Came across the $200 info - I think; trying to figure what's what w/ US customs is not easy.

Customs from Canada?

Looking @ drum totalling under $200 from Canada.

Anyone know what the import/customs fee, if any, is?
