Re: Ludwig 75th anniversary (84) kit. Looking to sell

Power toms and Modular hardware may be out of fashion at the moment, as well as Pinstripes and dot heads, but they will be in demand again someday, much like people are rediscovering concert toms and...

Re: Ludwig Drum Set Eagle Kit

Not many of these kits were made, and not a lot of them sold as others have stated. It was supposed to be a special kit for the 75th anniversary of Ludwig. My guess, and it is just that a guess, is...

Re: Ludwig Jazzettes

They actually started that in '68 as well...with the really small new corporate logo. I remember my kit had that on it's original front head. Like you said, people questioned it, but it was the real...

Re: Newer Ludwig help?

No, the Classic Maple series went 9-ply sometime in the early 2000's. I count 9-plies plus the wrap. Plus the date stamp puts them as 2006, which is in the time frame as being 9-ply shells.

Re: another "what have I got here?"

It's possible, but it most likely was added later as previous owners modified configurations for their needs......you've got to remember their was no thought to collector values back then....they...

Re: another "what have I got here?"

The hollywood kit could be special ordered with a 20" BD....it was the 60's....Ludwig would let you order them whatever way you wanted them.....anything to make a sale then.

Re: another "what have I got here?"

You couldn't be more wrong on this one.

What he has is a 1969 Hollywood set. Like others have said, wrong lugs, wrong legs, wrong tom holders for a Standard model set.

Its a small Keystone...

Re: Ludwig Jazzette - How many exist?

I remember seeing those at a vintage drum show in Manchester, NH several years back. They still look great! :D

Re: Newer Ludwig help?

That's a Ludwig Classic Maple Fab-4 kit from 2006. Top of the line at the time. These are 9-ply maple shells. They will sound fantastic with Coated Ambassadors. Jump For Joy

Re: Ludwig Jazzette - How many exist?

I'm not sure how many were actually produced over the years, but they are quite rare. I can tell you though that having owned one that was given to me by my father when he was alive, which he also...

Re: Vintage Ludwig Club Date Bass Drum Spurs

You are correct in that Ludwig doesn't offer the "disappearing spurs" anymore, but the choices you suggested are not really even close to what the OP is looking for.

See the pic below, this is the...

Re: Ludwig Acrolite 1st Generation/"Prototype" questions

Everything looks legit to me. Parts seem original, except for the heads and snare wires of course.

Ok...you said you wanted some info on it....what else do you need to know, as you seemed to have it covered pretty much already?

Re: Ludwig Super Classic or Classic 1994?

These are not the same as yours. Your kit is a newer kit made around 2004 and they have 9-ply shells.

This particular kit you are showing here belonged to a personal friend of mine, and yes,...

Re: Ludwig Super Classic or Classic 1994?

Upon closer studying & inspection, this is not a kit from 1994, but rather 2004. This is the Classic Maple Fab-4 kit finished in silver sparkle. If you look very closely at the bearing edge pic...

Re: Rogers Dynasonic question

That would be because a real Rogers Dyna would have been a chrome plated brass shell, not a chrome plated steel shell like the Brooke-Mays era "dynasonic" like this one shown here.

Re: Rogers Dynasonic question

Yup, looks like Brooke-Mays era drums.....cheap imports with some Rogers real & replica hardware on it.

I wouldn't shell out more than $50 US for that kit.

Re: When is a cymbal classed as vintage?

To me, vintage cymbals mean mid-1960's and earlier. Most of the cymbals that ZIldjian offers to this day originated in the late 1960's/early 1970's....and pretty much still sound the same and I...

Re: Ludwig Super Classic or Classic 1994?

Not quite sure what you mean by "authentic" here. Yes they are real Ludwig drums, yes they are from the Monroe, North Carolina era. Yes they are from the early 1990's judging by the ink date code...

Re: Ludwig Super Classic or Classic 1994?

I agree with Bun E. on this one. Count the plies of the edge of the shell. 4-ply would be the super classic shells, 6-ply (or possibly 8 or 9 ply depending on the exact year of manufacture) would be...
