Re: Two estate sale finds

Wow, I am SO envious of both of the finds posted in here. That blue sparkle radio king set is the tops. Looks like pretty new heads on the snare too. 10/10 pick up.

The porto pak outfit is...

Re: slingerland added badges to toms in... 1965? What about tone controls?...

Not to be conflictive; I have a 8x12 tom with a chicago badge that is stamped 1962. I suspect that simply when the shell was made, but with that said the bass has a niles no serial badge; also...

Re: Slingerland Fade

Re: Slingerland COB 2 to 1 snare

Sweet catch. Haven't seen one that late in factory production before, very cool. You can find replacement hoops at drumfactorydirect.com . I don't think they are brass though, but are the correct...

Re: Future Vintage?

My reasoning is that Mapex used walnut for the majority of their top of the line drums/products. Not many other brands did this across the board with any tier of their product lines. The mapex orion...

Re: Future Vintage?

I have had these thoughts myself.
Personally I suspect that the high quality Mapex stuff (saturn, orion, some black panther snares) will be valuable one day. The build quality on that is...

Re: Radio King white paint interior?

That's a beautiful drum you have, thejohnlec!

I'm sending you a pm on that 3 pt strainer on that drum. That extension lever is unoriginal and is from the 60s - (Or it's a replacement of some...

Re: Cool Slingerland Kit

I think often people mistake prices like his for being off from a supposed 'reasonable collectors value.' The rogers mount is original - it was installed by the dealer (according to him, but I...

Re: Skyrocketing Prices or Just Me?

Hey everybody. I've been a lurker for a long time but own some vintage drums and have been watching the market as a hobbyist for a while now (last 4-5 years). What I have noticed is that the average...

Re: Slingerland Chicago snare

Something seems kind of odd about this... Maybe I'm just geting confused. I thought that student model radio kings came only in certain arrangements. One being single flange hoops with a 3 point...

Re: Slingerland vs. Ludwig

I too have always felt that slingerland and mapex are similar companies. Top notch drums all around. even their low end, entry level stuff is high quality. They suffer from lack of brand recognition....

Re: Non-Posters and Lurkers post your drums thread.

I've been a 'lurker' for coming up on two years now.. I'm a lot more active on the slingerland drums and drummers facebook page. Love vintage drums of all kinds, but I've always liked Slingerlands...

Re: Musketeer? Is it another stencil or made by Gretsch/Kent?

Muskateer was a brand under the Kent drums company. I don't know much but I believe they're equivalent to Kent quality (which was not always consistent). That finish looks really nice though, and i...
