Re: Late 70's Lacquer over Brass Supraphonic

The serial is 168xxxx.

I don't claim to be anything more than a studied hobbyist collector, but do have enough experience with Ludwig to understand what it appeared to be the second I laid eyes on...

Re: Late 70's Lacquer over Brass Supraphonic

I don't see any evidence of any alteration, the inside shows turning lines and what looks to be fingerprint smudges and natural patina. Looking into the harder to access areas under the bearing edge...

Re: Late 70's Lacquer over Brass Supraphonic

Picked this up today. Never seen one before. No B or BR stamp, just a sticker on the inside "Seamless Brass Shell". All original except for heads. Anyone have any info or insights??

Re: Beginner kit score

I always check the pictures closely for just this reason. Years ago I just missed a Lacquered Brass Super 400 mixed in with a Borg kit for $180 on Cincy Craigslist The new owner had no clue and...

Re: Old Ludwig’s

Holy thread resurrection from 2 years ago. You still after this kit?? Those is a strange grouping of those sized drums you've listed?? The 13" tom badge backwards placement shows it was probably...

Re: Tama snare worth??

Looks to be a 70's Imperialstar King Beat. Try searching the name for more general info, and Reverb and Ebay for pricing information. I know jack about these snares.

Re: Ludwig Black Galaxy School Festival

My experience with eBay tells me they probably got an offer and sold it for less than that. Everything I've posted on eBay in the last year has been bombarded with offers up to 60% lower than the...

1960'S Gretsch Name Band

Just picked this up as the latest project wrapped in Champagne Sparkle. It's in pretty good shape with little fade, wrap seams lifting, and just a few things missing (reso side Hoop inlay and Ts and...

Re: Ludwig snare 15x6,5 serial number: 7463 - Identification

Re: How Do You Play? Matched or Traditional Grip?

I play both. Usually it is whatever feels more comfortable playing the song. My band plays a very eclectic mix of music, which varies greatly from song to song within the set lists.
I seem to get a...

1967 Ludwig Super Sensitive Restoration

This drum came to me after 52 years of playing, years of pitting, and subsequently being abused by a wire wheel. I got it very very cheaply.

I had it stripped by a chrome shop, Then hand sanded...
