Re: I Have Never "Gotten" Gretsch Drums

My personality is polar opposite of a guy like Buddy, but I never reached greatness in anything like Buddy did either. He was single minded for sure, and nothing got in the way of his drumming,...

Re: I Have Never "Gotten" Gretsch Drums

He did do some of their songs over the years, but only the more serious ones. He actually thought a lot of their stuff was silly...and he was no fan of Ringo at all! He said he liked the Beatles in...

Re: Cool or Not?

Actually, I looked at doing that.

It's possible, but some of the Vibra sticker would show. Just a little, but I think it would be to noticeable. And their is a " Made in Japan" sticker attached...

Re: I Have Never "Gotten" Gretsch Drums

Buddy Rich would second your opinion Bob.

He was no fan of Bebop, he actually hated it and thought it was the ruination if jazz. He thought it was just a gaggle of musicians with no timing, feel...

Re: Cool or Not?

The extra Norma badge came from a beat up old rack tom that I bought for next to nothing. I actually bought it for the lugs in case I should ever need one and the badge was just icing on the cake....

Re: Cool or Not?

So we have a nice mix of opinions so far.

I'm leaning towards putting it on right now, thinking like jda, that it would increase eye appeal and make the kit look complete.

Besides, what am I...

Re: Cool or Not?

Thanks fx.

I kind of feel the same way. It's not a collector kit after all. We'll see what others think when they chime in.

Cool or Not?

So I've added a second 14" floor tom to my Norma kit. However, it's not a Norma, it's a Vibra. I don't think I ever would have found another red sparkle Norma, so when this came up at a nice price, I...

Re: Interesting Video

My guess is, the folks at DW are no longer Steve's "close friends"!

That didn't do anything to boost the DW brand, if that was the point of this video. The Camco's were much warmer and simply...

Re: A "rare" Rogers Luxor on eBay - only $9,995!

How to keep your wife happy and not sell a drum you love all at the same time -

Wife - you better sell that drum!!!

Husband - ok, ok, I'll list it!

Wife - did you list it?

Husband - yes...

Re: Does it have to match?

Well, I bought a steel Yamaha piccolo, and honestly, it looks great. I polished it up nicely and I like the look, and the sound is just awesome as well.

So I'll leave it as is, but thanks!

Re: Camco

I'm on your side johnnyringo.

Do what you want, sell, buy, have fun. I'm actually a polar opposite, I keep things to long and don't know how to get rid of things. I get to attached. So I'm living...

Re: Camco

I can't say I'm a fan of there lugs. I like more traditional style lugs, but that's just me.

Those shells look to be in great shape though, but that tom mount is really rusty, which seems strange...

Re: Yamamoto Gracy? Anybody know ANYTHING?

So you say Yamamoto made Norma's?

That's interesting to know, since I thought my Norma kit was likely made by Hoshino. But it does have the Gretsch hardware on it, and since none of the Big 3...

Re: Buddy

First, Buddy was a native New Yorker, born and bred in Brooklyn in the bad ol days, the pre-hipster, pre ****genized Brooklyn that I remember so well, hence his tough, take no prisoners attitude. He...
