Re: Wanna gold bald reading...

The Ludnuts are abundantly represented in that silly discussion thread. It's an effing aluminum alloy drum shell with the most common Ludwig strainer ever used on a drum. Enjoy it if you like it....

Re: [B]1939 WFL 7 x 14 TWO-TONE (BDP/ROSE/BDP) TWIN SENSITIVE HOLLYWOOD SWING MODEL [

I have been under the impression that the "pearl" finish is printed on an opaque white ply . A transparent top ply is laminated over the "pearl" patterned bottom ply. That transparent top ply is...

Re: Take Me To The River

They were ill-fated as a success, and did not stick around for very long. I remember seeing another video with one or both drummers with James Brown playing a set of these drums.

Re: 1953/1956 Slingerland Radio King Be Bop

I acquired this Gretsch Cocktail set a few years ago. The "bass drum" has the snare apparatus under the top head. But, that type of "snare" drum sound is more anemic than a cajon with rattles on it....

Re: My New Leedy

Now, you're doing what (in my opinion) you ought to be doing with these beautiful drums. Experimenting with drum heads and how they are dampened and tensioned can probably get you closer to the sound...

Re: Dropping a stick is no big deal compared to this

That's how I feel about it, too. I tried to just post the video. But, I had no success. Just quickly move down the page until you see he video you can click on to watch.

Re: Dropping a stick is no big deal compared to this

OUCH! Six kids playing at least seven different songs in nine different key signatures and a dozen tempos.

Take Me To The River

For no apparent reason, I suddenly had the urge to watch this video from 1975. As much as i like the various versions of this song by Talking heads and/or David Byrne solo, the Al Green versions of...

Re: My New Leedy

Apparently, you like the vintage 50's/60's look of the drums, but want a 70's sound. What's next? Removal of the resonant head on the toms and bass drum? They're your drums. If that's what you want,...

Re: eBay listing that infuriates me!

I watched an interview on television yesterday on AXS TV. The interview was of Roger Daltry that was conducted by Brian Johnson of AC-DC. Daltry seemed to be very open and honest in his responses to...

Re: Effect from replacing hoops with COB hoops?

If the steel hoops are also triple-flanged, I stick by my opinion that very few people would hear any difference. Is the original post intended to say that the steel hoops in question are not...

Re: Effect from replacing hoops with COB hoops?

That is a very subjective opinion. Most of us would not be able to hear any difference if the drum is tensioned exactly the same with both types of hoops.

Re: Buddy Rich Has Left The building (and the planet)

I think that Buddy would have loved the confusion among people as to whether or not the report of his demise on April 1 was an April Fools prank.

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

Very good point about letting some drums that were inconsistent with specs leave the factory.

Re: This is very funny. I hope that the drummer was OK

Being ***ish, I never had the displeasure of playing bastardized country rock at a worship service. Many, if not most, ***ish congregations do not permit musical instruments being played in the...

This is very funny. I hope that the drummer was OK

Go find another drummer. Look how they all ran to help him--the rest of the band and the congregation. A biker bar or even a *** bar would have half the people helping him within five seconds.

Re: Ludwig Tequila Sunrise 6 3/4x14 Snare

The little bit of extra height for each of the three bands seems to be just enough to put the lug holes right on the seams if the lugs were centered on the shell. It seems like the builder of the...

Re: My First Rogers Foray! I Have some questions........

Thanks for the nice words. I urge the original poster to latch on to that Rogers BDP set. I wish that I had my original Rogers set.

Re: My 18 ft

My misfit orphan drums came together to make a nice little bop set. I acquired a 1930's Leedy 7x11 tom that had been altered to have a big Sonor mount on it. I then acquired a 1950's Leedy 16x12...
