Re: Rogers Dynasonic Snare Shell

Hi mathew!

I have a very nice 5x14 Dynasonic shell, 5-line, that still has the "Rogers" badge on it. Has the air vent hole to the right of the strainer and holes for the muffler to the left of the...

Re: Slingerland/Zildjian Price Check

By "value", do you mean what you should pay or what it would be worth for resale?

As to the snare drum, yes, it's missing both original hoops. I also see that the muffler knob is not original....

Re: Snare Set Advice Needed for Vintage Acrolite

Let us know how they sound. There are lots of great snare wires available and you can hear the difference. The only issue it that it can get pricey to experiment! LoLoLoLo

Re: Snare Set Advice Needed for Vintage Acrolite

Hey DrumBob!

I would tend to agree with you about Puresound wires. In fact, I have more Puresounds on my snares than any other brand. What I've found, though, is that Puresound wires tend to lean...

Re: Leedy Drums 2

JR! Be patient. Your nice kit just needs to find the right buyer. What some may not be aware, is that these are really Slingerland drums, but with Leedy lugs. Great 3-ply shells with solid maple...

Re: Snare Set Advice Needed for Vintage Acrolite

Hi DD!

The majority of Acrolites came with either 16 or 20 strand wires with plastic ends. Pictured is one of my Acrolites with original wires.

I've tried dozens of different snare wires over...

Re: Grommets - slingerland 3-ply shells

You'll need the 3/8" length for 3-ply shells.

Re: 1971 Ludwig... opinions?

As the above posts point out, that Reverb kit is priced on the high side, but it is in great condition. Many VDF members know that I always say "condition is everything". The serial numbers agree...

Re: Grommets - slingerland 3-ply shells

These grommets are for Ludwig drums. Slingerland grommets are thicker aluminum and will need a proper flaring tool.

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

Well said. Education is the key to fair pricing. However, at the end of the day, it needs to be the seller who has to separate fact from fiction!

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

JR...

Being retired, I do have time to spend to impart my decades of knowledge with vintage drums and try to educate those who appear less informed. While I can offer that knowledge, it can still...

O-Lugs!

The Gladstone drum you are referring to ended 8-17-19. The seller ended it with the following explanation..."This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available"....

Re: eBay listing that infuriates me!

Yes, all the "cool young drummers" dig vintage gear, meaning "Ludwig", simply because it is still a viable company. How many of them have heard, or care, about Camco, Fibes, Rogers and Slingerland? I...
