Re: How High will it go 60's Ludwig BOP set

Jim, any 60's vintage Ludwig set in Oyster Black brings more $$ due to the Ringo association. There's no getting around it. In the end, it's just another common Ludwig finish of that time. Bill...

Re: Snare Set Advice Needed for Vintage Acrolite

I have to argue for Puresound wires. I get them from D'Addario and they have never failed me. Not once in all these years. I never have loose wires hanging after gigs. Yes, they're more expensive,...

Re: 1971 Ludwig... opinions?

IMO, if this set brings you back to good times, I say contact the seller and ask if you can negotiate a price. It is a high price for a common finish set. I'm thinking $1500, and see if he'll throw...

Re: Leedy Drums 2

Right, you shouldn't break that set up if the dates are the same. That would be a shame.

Re: What's up with head prices going through the roof?

Sure, I can. I'm loving the UV1s on my toms since I switched a few months ago. They don't get marked up and resist dents. They also sound warm and deep, which is the sound I like on toms.

Re: [B]1939 WFL 7 x 14 TWO-TONE (BDP/ROSE/BDP) TWIN SENSITIVE HOLLYWOOD SWING MODEL [

Mike, I have always wondered how Ludwig was able to do two-tone pearl finishes like this. I have seen other examples, including blue with white going through the middle. How did they accomplish this?

I can ask my artist relations guy at Evans, if you want it straight from the manufacturer.

Re: SONOR 8 pc Phonic Series Rosewood in/out 1975 Centennial RARE & EXCELLENT!

I do think this set is overpriced, and it's been sitting for a year unsold. If you had read my earlier posts regarding this set, you might have realized what I meant.

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

Let's hope so. It's been quite a while since the Bombers won it all. It just seems like it's the Yankees' time. x-mas3

Re: Does it have to match?

My first set was Slingerland with a Ludwig Supra 400 snare. My teacher, who sold me the set, told me, "I'm out of Slingerland snares. The Ludwig is a better drum anyway." I didn't care and still...

Re: E/drums?

No, no, and positively, no. They're not for me. I can understand why some people use them; they're handy tools for recording, apartment practice and certain live situations, but to me, e-kits are fun...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

It could be almost any reason why sellers ask so much, and we will never know why. It just disturbs me that it's happening. It scares me, frankly. I know there are still bargains out there, but they...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

No, I alone don't possess the power to stop it, but the vintage drum community banded together could possibly prevent it by outing the sellers who are trying to drive prices up. Just say no to high...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

And you want to see prices go through the roof?

Did you read my post about Scott Chinery? All it takes is for one doofus with a lot of money to buy that green Ludwig set for $15K or the champagne...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

Well, if nothing else, I'm glad we can disagree here without having things degenerate into arguments. I have my opinion and I know my intentions are honorable. That's all that really matters in the...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

I always make a point of telling sellers I have no selfish interest in buying the drums. I'm trying to help them sell the drums at fair market value, and I'm also trying to keep the prices reasonable...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

It takes all of 5-7 minutes to reach out to a seller. I have had a couple of cases where the sellers legitimately had no idea that they were overpricing a drumset. I spoke to them respectfully and...

Re: Anybody re-lathed their old K's

Is your rant over? Got it all outcha' system? Feel better now? Your reply borders on nonsensical. It's barely readable.

You completely misunderstood me. You can get the same trashy, dark style...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

Some of us are incensed about ignorant people trying to sell vintage drums for indecent amounts of money, that's all. None of us expect everyone to sell below market value all the time, but for...
