Re: Gretch with 18" Bass versus Ludwig Downbeat $$

Re: Vintage ends

+1 with BosLover. Others implied this also: The "vintage" line is not static. Today it's the mid eighties tomorrow it's the mid nineties and so on. BTW, there are probably some old timers who...

Re: question Identifying Slingerland snare model and year

Good info from Mark. The year can actually be narrowed down further to '61 or '62. According to Dr. CJ Wenk that badge was only used for a portion of those two years. A 3-ply shell with a mahogany...

Re: Rogers grey interior

Looks like an attempt to remove the gray speckled interior finish from the one drum.

The 13" WMP Slingerland shell is a pre '56 Radio King.

Re: Tama pig in a poke

All different kinds of collectors. Years ago I came across a fellow who collected rare NOS car parts. He only bought rare NOS items in the original factory packaging and un-opened (so sight...

Re: Help ID and price: 20" Slingerland bass

Around '72 for that serial. Clear maple interior would be expected. Part or all of the cymbal arm may be non-original. Price seems fair though if no other issues.

Re: Help ID and price: 20" Slingerland bass

+1 with the others and appears to be early 70's, a serial could help narrow it down.

Re: 1960's Slingerland 8x12 Champagne sparkle

No problem. Beige stained interior verifies a pre '72 build. J-hook muffler is correct. Looks like a pretty nice drum, GLWS.

Re: Does Changing Era-correct Hardware Constitute a " Modification"?

Agree with Wes and Mark. A restoration. Not modified, not 100% original. Replacement parts should be NOS or used OEM period correct originals. Reproduction parts should be disclosed.

Re: 1960's Slingerland 8x12 Champagne sparkle

Black/silver badge with 5-digit serial is early 70's. '71 is most likely for 36xxx.

Re: 1960's Slingerland 8x12 Champagne sparkle

Most likely no date stamp but a serial could help date it.

Re: Slingerland COB 2 to 1 snare

Hey longjohn, wouldn't the factory hoops for this drum be chrome on steel (COS) sticksavers?

Re: Identify Black Beauty

Shouldn't a vintage badge say "Chicago, USA"? This badge says "Made in USA".

Neat. Looks to have the one year only ('85) foil badge. How about a serial?

Yup. Three different floor toms, two different bass drums and rack toms. 2+ kits? May be an OK deal LOL.
