Re: anybody know what this is??

I'll offer a totally uninformed guess. A Barry bass drum tension rod. Just because I like the way it sounds.

Re: Ludwig WMP Help

Take Gary's advice. Breathe deep and wait for it. That kit is better than ANY 'players kit'. The badges all match and the wraps look the same. Only the diehard collectors would look down on the...

Re: 64 Ludwig Downbeats Black Oyster, but which snare?

If I had to choose between the two, I would go with the downbeat snare. Even though I would assume the price would be double.

Re: 1955 Slingerland Knotty pine floor tom...

Here is a thread I started on DFO this year about my pair; they are indeed both dated March xx 1959. More important for you however - there is a reply from a gentleman here in MD saying that he is...

Re: 1955 Slingerland Knotty pine floor tom...

RogerF,

I have a two piece kit in Knotty Pine, dated 1958 I believe. A 12x22 single tension bass w/original calf heads and a 5.5x14 8 lug snare, with single flanged hoops and clips iirc. The wrap...

Re: Wrap Fading 1964 Ludwig

I would do nothing more than Novus 2 and Novus 1; alternatively Meguire's PlastiX. Lovely drums, that is what they should look like after 55 years!

Re: Rogers Strata Drums

Something like 1967-1971 was the the range offered. Many kits, including my Blue Strata 12 16 20, are mixed Dayton/Fullerton badged. All strata finishes are less common than normal, and fragile,...

Re: 1967 Rogers Blue Strata

Blue Strata is the pinnacle of Rogers wraps, imho. Do not be put off that the wraps are cracked, as long as they are small, with-the-grain of the wrap, and still adhered. I have a 12 16 20...

Re: 1965 Rogers SwingTime No. 2816 Outfit in Wine Red Ripple Pearl

Come on Mark, enough pics of the drums!

WE WANT TO SEE THE DRESS!

Yeah, I know that sounds pretty weird, but you started it. And MY wife thinks it's a pretty cool deal you two have going as...

Re: Anyone ever see this style of Rogers "Big R" before?

Pretty sure these are from the Island Imports era, after Rogers shut down in the mid-80s.

And the R-360/380 lines were late 60's/early70's Rogers-licensed made-by-Yamaha budget lines.

Re: 1961 Slingerland? Help needed

George, do not feel one bit bad about breaking up that kit, as it has no collector value as a four piece, with those mods. Some one needs that snare. Someone needs that floor tom even more.

Re: Slingerland Price Check

Their value, of course, is what someone will pay. If they were mine, and I actually wanted them to sell, I would be asking $750. If I were looking to purchase, I would find a three ply kit. But...

Re: 1946 Leedy Shell Info Needed

Interesting because I just picked up a 1939 dated Leedy Reliance snare, 14x6.5, and it definitely is mahogany on the inside. I would assume that a late 40's would also be the same, but yours looks...

That's so strange - like the red felt muffler right there wasn't doing the job??

Hey, Welcome Mr Wild One,

I appreciate you chiming in with your experience, even if it is an old thread. I find myself searching for answers that way all the time.

Re: Dating Rogers Holiday kit and Dyna-Sonic snare

Looks original to me. The floor tom on my Cleveland silver sparkle kit has gotten almost this dark.

Re: Slingerland White Satin Flame

AB,

I think both you and the seller did well on the transaction. You got a great kit with plenty of opportunity for sweat equity, and he didn't 'give them away', but clearly didn't want to work...

Re: Calling all 70's Ludwig Shell Experts

Yes, isn't that a modular mount plate (triangular) we see inside the small tom? If so, early 80s purchase, not early 70s.

Re: Rogers Value

I agree with Amos, if the wrap is toast, do you really want to put ~$300 more into it? Only if you are dying to have a Rogers in the wrap of your choice. But you think you'll recoup that from a...
