Premier conversion and restore

I picked up a Premier kit for a song. 22, 13, 14 and 16. The bass drum had a 4" hole in the shell so I converted the 16" floor tom to a bass drum. Stripped the black wrap, sanded, clear stain and...

Early 50's Slingerland

I don't know much about this snare. I think it's early 50's dog tag badge. It's a thin Mahogany (I think) shell and nickle plated hardware. 14 x 7 sounds real big. I just cleaned it up no refinishing.

Re: 1920's Leedy Copper over Brass

Thanks guys. A labor of Love. I'm definitely keeping this one. Ordered a calf skin head for the batter just to see what that brings. Sounds real good with the Skyntone open and just enough ring.

1920's Leedy Copper over Brass

Just finished this refurbish. Had to have new t-rods machined by a buddy. Not all original but real purtty. I added a before shot.

Re: Labor of Love

Hey guys thanks for the input and encouragement. The painted white inside shells have a pretty good amount of scuffing and paint loss. I did use Simple Green to clean them up. I am resisting the...

Re: Labor of Love

The fading seem to be fairly even from drum to drum. The '69 added bass had a bulge at the bottom of the shell which I got under control with steam and pressure. It's still out of round so I am...

Re: 70's Ludwig Stainless Steel Octa-Plus

I've got a black cortex 1977 Octaplus. What are these kits going for these days? There doesn't seem to be a demand for concert tom kits but they sound fantastic.

Re: Early 60s' Rogers

Yes. The kit is 13/13/16/20. It came with a dynasonic cob snare serial #3002 which I think puts it in 60-61? Man I love the way these drums sound!!

Re: Early 60s' Rogers

All the swivo hardware was pretty rusty. I used steel wool and lubed it up with a little petroleum jelly. It's in good working order now.

Early 60s' Rogers

I just finisher a rebuild on this Rogers kit. It's a bit of an enigma. Two 13" toms, one with the script logo facing the player, B&B lugs on the toms, Beaver tails on the bass. This was the way the...

Re: Dating Slingerland Drums

It's a project set. A few parts but a lot of time. Is it worth rebuilding? The wrap is coming up at the seams but I can probably glue it back down. Ugly metal bass hoops. Is this a USA built kit?...

Dating Slingerland Drums

Hey Guys,
There is a Green sparkle slingy drum set (project) that I am looking at for rebuild. The serial number is 577429. I am thinking this is an 80's set. Am I close?
Thanks
