I agree with Hoppy, good advice.
I use blue dawn mixed with water and wipe down and dry with terry cloth.
Nice drum Hoppy, yours looks so much blacker than mine, all though yours is younger maybe...

I also see red near calf skin on top near throw and also back of throw.
That would be a major fade if it is faded.

Yes agree it would be better with more pictures.
Maybe picture with head off and the edges.
It does look a lot lighter then the catalog picture for sure.
