I read all of TommyP's posts. Unless I disagree (rarely) I do not respond. TommyP certainly doesn't need my approval. As to posting traffic, there are other sites with a lot more posting traffic...

That serial would be expected for ~'73-'74. Around this time the tone control changed from the large knob j-hook to the large solid knob tone control. Still collecting serial vs. tone control data...

That is a #140 Aluminum snare. A "Rapid" strainer would be original. You want one like this with the three hole slider: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/drcjw/article_5_strainers_rapid-5.html ...
