Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

I noticed that too. Pretty disappointing since, as far as retractable BD spurs go, Rogers were the best/sturdiest IMHO.

I've seen the odd MIJ snare listed for $300.00 or $500.00 up here in...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

Aside from that consideration, you have addressed any and all objections, with the information quoted below...it's just that not everybody noticed. :)

Re: Nice bollero snare drum !

I had a ten-lug MIJ snare for a while and it was absolutely killer! I only sold it because....well, I had to didn't I?

Sweet sweet sweet! And tempting to leave that finish but will look sweet sweet sweet with GS wrap. Congrats!

Re: Slingerland-to buy or not to buy

Good call it's possible and even likely the blue backdrop is playing a part. Still it does look like a daylight shot which can be a bit blue. More of a general thing when looking at drum pics - check...

Re: Think you're flexible??

I'd have to say I'm pretty rigid on no power-toms. OTOH every drummer has at least one - the floor tom! :)

Re: Slingerland-to buy or not to buy

We know that Remo drum heads are a creamy, off-white colour. The heads in the pic up top have a blue-ish cast, therefore we know that the drums are more yellow or creamy than they appear in the pic....

Re: P-100 Beater Angle Mod

Thanks Mark! I held off on this for quite a while thinking I'd be tapping out bearings and/or who knows what disassembly hell, but was extremely pleased to find that with the removal of the rocker...

P-100 Beater Angle Mod

I love the old P-100s, love how I can get them for 20 bucks, and the bouncy action. The real cheap ones tho often have no beater-angle adjustment, just the rocker fixed in place with flat-spots on...

Re: Superficial Drum Pet Peeves

The slightly-off-center hole in the reso head is weighting it to one side I think. :)

Pet peeve is modern, massive 100lb cymbal stands, especially when you look at what Bonham happily used for...

Re: How can I salvage this kit?

Lots of different approaches. One is, fix the structural issues with the bass drum and play the kit as is. Maybe remove the cobwebs from the floor tom. :)

I think they look awesome.

Re: How many mics???

I know eh? Nate Smith....!

I plan to try out this setup in the next few days, on a 4-piece, with the overhead mic placement a little more allowing of player movement [toms].

Re: Buddy Rich / Matched grip - No, But Yes.

Totally. It was just kinda funny watching the clip and glancing at the title of the next clip. :)

I really only ever play at jazz myself, but even then trad grip just feels right.

Buddy Rich / Matched grip - No, But Yes.

I was watching this clip of Buddy doing an entire solo using match grip. The next clip in the queue on the right side of the YT page [in my case anyway] was titled, "Buddy Rich on why he doesn't use...

Re: DRUMS TOO LOUD!/ what to do?

Since you mentioned "snare drums" - to tone mine down, I put a 3" wide (about 6" long) strip of paper between the snares and bottom head, out toward the edge. The more you move the strip to the...
