Re: Post your Pre-trans Stamp Avedis Zildjians

Any and all knowledge is encouraged, as many of us are still learning. No need for condescension.

Like Zen said, back to the pretty pictures.

Post your Pre-trans Stamp Avedis Zildjians

I didn't see one, so I thought I would start a thread for pre-trans stamp A Zildjians. If you're not sure what you've got, there should be a cymbal ID thread for that.
You can also check out these...

Re: Cymbalholic Site Closing down

Here's something for the cymbalholics. Picked up a nice set 15" of Vibra Zanchi that someone polished just enough. Close in weight at 1044 & 1032 grams, but they sound totally different. One is dark...

Re: This is the Display Your MIJ Drums Thread

Thanks. Pictured is a 20s Ludwig bass 26x14 w/ single tension and a 30s Slingerland professional that was painted a very long time ago. I've also got three other marching drums I use as toms: 30s...

Re: Mystery snare might be an early Rogers

My first impression was also Duplex. The shell is unique. I haven't seen one like it, and I haven't come across one in an old catalog. It might be a small brand that never took off. Doesn't seem to...

Re: Mystery snare might be an early Rogers

Just found some pictures of a 1927 Gretsch American Orchestral snare. The lug posts look real similar. Sort of a stepped design at the base. Same clips and vent too. Not proof enough for me, but...

Re: Age

Vintage means different things to different people. For me, it's anything 1960s or older.

Re: Mystery snare might be an early Rogers

I saw a Gretsch snare in Mark's collection with those clips. It's a lot like other hardware of the period. Several companies used a lot of the same suppliers. I've seen several brands with...

Mystery snare might be an early Rogers

Just bought this online. After some research, I think it might be an early Rogers. Could be a Walberg & Auge. I know that a few companies used those hoop clips.

Looks to a 13x3 NOB shell and 8...

Re: This is the Display Your MIJ Drums Thread

Got this 20x14 mij bass drum for $20. It was in rough shape so I gave it a second chance. It pairs nicely with the 26" bass.

-Removed the split wrap and stripped the black paint from the hoops ...

Re: Slingerland snare on the way

Here it is for now. Removed all the grit and crust. Keeping the red paint because it's interesting. I can always remove it later.

I noticed the throw handle has Patent Pending stamped on it. I'm...

Re: Slingerland snare on the way

Just found this post by Mark Cooper from DrumForum.org. A few years back he posted a Slingerland like mine. Professional model with heavy, double flange hoops. His is a bit cleaner than mine:

Re: Slingerland snare on the way

Snare arrived the other day. Finally got a chance to start cleaning her up.
Four of the tension rods are bent, but I may be able to straighten them. None of the lugs are cracked.
I'm thinking about...

Re: Slingerland snare on the way

This is my current snare. Slingerland Professional 1930s-40s. I think it's a 6 1/2. The one on the way might be 5". The center bead looks different in the photos. Different hoops, too. Hmm...

Slingerland snare on the way

Just grabbed this Slingerland from the interwebs. Should get here soon. Looks complete. I think I see nickel where the paint is worn. Can't wait. I'll post detailed pictures when it arrives and...

Re: Cymbalholic Site Closing down

I was a member of Cymbalholic for more than about 10 years (as Thundermug), and I don't remember any drama. No time for that nonsense.

I do remember a lot of very helpful and knowledgable drummers...

Re: Anyone else get disheartened at all the greed in the vintage drum market?

There are a lot of uneducated people that stumble across great equipment and throw ridiculous prices on it. They see an old K for BIN and apply that price to an old A, etc.

And everything is...
