Re: Type I,II,III old K s

Yeah, beauties. By the look, I'd say IIIa for both. My favorite era. Matthias' too based on all five of his Holy Grail 22's all being IIIa's.

Re: Type I,II,III old K s

Agop 25th anniversary comes the closest to any I've heard to date. They emulate old stamps.

But I'm not sure that I totally agree with Mel's assessment. Those Istanbuls that he played in the video...

Re: Type I,II,III old K s

So....Thanks a lot Avedis & Co. You couldn't handle the competition so your way of dealing with it was to simply just destroy it. Try making better product? No costs too much. With enough money to...

Re: Type I,II,III old K s

I don't think they have a store there and they don't do visitors tours anymore. I would suggest calling them before you go just to check.

Re: Type I,II,III old K s

My sentiments exactly. And if Mel had been on Cymbalholic with this same commentary he would have been banned for life.

Re: Type I,II,III old K s

The location of the star is higher above the crescent than it would be on the intermediate. So I think not. One thing I can tell you is that I was with him when he was buying old cymbals at the drum...

Re: Type I,II,III old K s

So I guess that finding disqualifies this cymbal from being in this thread then anyway. We need a separate thread for the type IV examples only, which would be appropriate since these are quite...

Re: Type I,II,III old K s

This is actually type IIIc which is probably least commonly seen K. trademark. The only way it can be deciphered is by freezing the earliest frame of the video. Just the crescent and star can...

Re: Type I,II,III old K s

Good point. I'd rather be alive now and looking back at a great era. And with all that we know now nobody has ever been able to recreate that uniquely K. quality. Back then they just were just...

Re: Try to concentrate your attention only on the drummer and his cymbals

I agree that the mental picture of what you just mentioned seems to be ridiculously incongruous, and yet I can in fact imagine a lot of things. So as long as we're speaking along those lines, I'll...

Re: Need a jumbo bell?

Or maybe this one which I really wish I could hear. The ink says "thin" and yet it weighs about 1535 grams.

Re: Zildjian Clone? Zildjian K? What is this?

Definitely an artificial K. The bell-bow transition is too severe. The pseudo Arabic script is wrong. Hammering is wrong. 100% Italian B.S.

Re: Mystery crash cymbal - paiste ??

Definitely not a 602. No 17" would have a bell that large. And the lathing is definitely not Paiste either.

If this cymbal sounds near as good as it looks...it's killer

Best photo example I've seen on eBay ever. The 2nd prize was by somebody who used a hand drawn trademark and then photographed it for his ad.
