Re: Evans 360 uv1

I love UV1s and Calftones. UV1s (I still need to try the UV2s) end up on all my snares now because they sound great, tune up easily and that coating is impenetrable. Seriously, I've had my main snare...

Re: Maybe off-topic - mufflers on modern drum?

I agree with Rob. Snareweights are a nice solution to overtones. Alternatively, you can look into a Big Fat Snare Drum or O-Rings. (Or just make your own O-rings by cutting out an O-shape from an old...

Re: Zildjian Clone? Zildjian K? What is this?

Incredible!

@Hardbat, I've got a set of Zanchi cymbals that came with a set I bought a few years back, but they've sat in a case for a while now. I should really give them a try.

@Zen, your...

Re: Zildjian Clone? Zildjian K? What is this?

When were these clones produced? I saw in the other thread Zen linked to a catalog from 1912, but until what point were they made? Is there any way to date it?

Re: Metal polishing products?

I use Evaporust for parts that are annoying to deal with (strainers and such).

But for shells and lugs I use Quick-Glo (The fine version) it's amazing.

Zen, can always count on you to bring incredible research and evidence.

Meant to give all of you more pix today, but unfortunately, the cymbal is currently with a family member who picked it up,...

Zildjian Clone? Zildjian K? What is this?

Hey y'all!

Just picked up a cymbal (Or rather, got a family member to pick up a cymbal for me) and this is the stamp on it. Any idea what the deal with this thing is? Stamp looks like it says...

Re: Selling: 1970s Fullerton Butcher Block Kit (And A Ludwig Bass [and a cymbal!]!)

Updated the price from 1000 on the kit to 800. Please, someone make me a happy person and take this off my hands.

Re: Old style Ludwig internal dampener vs. baseball bat type

Another option is getting the Canopus baseball bat repro. From what I understand (I've never had issues with my BB mufflers) they've fixed whatever issues those are. I've got one repro on a drum and...

Call me crazy, but there's gotta be a better word to describe that...

As far as the actual manufacturers. Head prices have definitely gone up by a few dollars, but the quality of Evans and Remo...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

To try to merge the two topics:

Wow, that kit was so overpriced you'd think it were a Yankees player from the mid 2000s. Someone should call it Jason Giambi. Or Jacoby Ellsbury. Or AJ Burnett!

Re: What's up with head prices going through the roof?

UV1s are my go-to head now. I love the sound, especially on toms and snare, I think they've got real great versatility across tuning ranges, and like you said, they're super durable.

Nothing like...

Ludwig 20x18'' Floor Tom

Hey y'all,

I picked up this drum from a cousin recently. Was hoping someone could give me more insight into it. It's a 20x18'' Ludwig floor tom from 1970. It's date stamped May 14th, 1970 and has...

Re: Tension rods, cleaning, rust, soaking

+1 on Evaporust. It's reusable for a while which is great. Soak the rods for a day, rinse them off and then you can pour the Evaporust back into its bottle (I strain it through a coffee filter)....

Whoops! My bad, let's blame it being 3am. Definitely wasn't me just not having any idea on the value of these things.

Selling: 1970s Fullerton Butcher Block Kit (And A Ludwig Bass [and a cymbal!]!)

I've got a 1974 (I think, 9/72 tag inside with B prefix) Fullerton Butcher Block kit, 12/13/16/22, missing the bass spurs and tom mount but otherwise in fantastic condition + cases. $800, but open to...

Re: Polishing/Sealing Brass Snare Shells

My go-to on metal recently has been Quick-Glo fine. The website says it works for brass, although I can't give my own testimonial on that, but I use it on basically everything else.

It supposedly...

It's thin. I'd imagine they toss that "Not recommended" thing on their website so that people stop sending them angry emails when they use them as batter heads, then play super heavy music and break...
