The 11-1/2 inch had really bad cracks in the rim that spread in a couple of different directions. I may have made a mistake by cutting out the cracked section. It still sounds good and has a nice...

I ground the peen off with a Dremel Tool. I think I’ll try the bleach on the felt while I figure out where to get a new one. I’ll use some evapo-rust on the metal and see how it comes out.

Here is the 4 piece kit. The snare is from Elkhart, the bass drum is a Pioneer both from the 1930’s. The floor tom says Chicago and has an April 41 date inside so it probably came from Elkhart as...

I feel your pain. I used citristripe on a 15 inch maple marching snare and had the same experience. Fortunately, it did not have a wrap on it and I was able to sand it to get the paint off.

I’ll post some photos of the complete 4 piece kit on Tuesday. Here are a couple of photos showing the 15 in maple floor tom. I sure wish it was mahogany.
