Changing your heads seems like the thing to do to see if you can get the sound you are looking for out of a set you "really" like before moving on. If the new heads don't give you what you are...

I could not find a date inside the drum but A0125 is handwritten clear as day inside. anyone have any idea why it what it stands for?

I see things that have been sitting on Craigslist get bumped up in price from time to time. I'm guessing they are getting a few bites but they are offers of 25 to 50 bucks or so less than they want...
