Re: Wrap repair hack

I think cutting it into an angular, irregular shape would make it blend even better into the irregular diamond pattern or the wrap.

I tried something similar for a missing bass hoop inlay that was...

Re: Ginger Baker dead at age 80!

For many of us rock guys, it was Baker, not Bellson, who inspired us to convert to double-bass kits back in the day. And how about his unique version of cymbal stacking before there was such a...

Very nice. Yes, DT-225...

The MIJ experts might be able to provide more detailed info about the shells.

Re: This is very funny. I hope that the drummer was OK

Forget the apparent apathy of the audience and the rest of the band. The real villain here is the idiot who leaned an unsecured, 8-foot cross up against the wall believing that it would magically...

Re: Rogers WMP Headliner

Nice pic of the cymbals. I'd like to see more of the kit. Is that FT a 14x14 or the more rare 16x14?

Re: Marketplace ad, lol

That's hilarious. That guy has a great sense of humor.

I'd buy it if I could get a couple 4"x20" bass heads.

Re: 1971 Ludwig Bonham kit 26

I've never heard of this Gbase site. Which country is it located in, and what's the U.S. dollar equivalent of that asking price?

Yes, beautiful kit, and I can't wait to see the beauty it's traded for in two months. I love JR's rotating collection.

Re: Rogers experts please

A pic of the badge number would narrow it down, but from the Big-R style snare gate, this would be a late Fullerton script Dyna, maybe 1973-1974, just before the Dyna's got the Big-R badge.

Re: Age

Let's complicate this discussion even more by trying to distinguish between "vintage" and "antique". if a '57 Chevy is vintage and a 1914 Stutz Bearcat is an antique, then my Cleveland Rogers snare...

Re: If it weren't for the local pick-up only....

We have a couple members here who could actually afford that asking price (certainly not me), but is a one-of-a-kind piece of drum history worth $85,000? It very well could be considering that...

Re: Paint stripping over a wrap

That's weird... they obviously painted the shell with the lugs in place, but since those lugs aren't painted black, someone must have taken the expense of replacing all the hardware.

As mentioned...

Re: Bass drum measurements ???

With the drum resting on a head, he measures across the 20" head from the outside of the hoops and got 22x22, then he measured the "height" of the 16" shell from hoop to hoop and got 17.5", so I...

Re: 70ís Rogers Butcher Block

That looks to be in fantastic condition. Bass and 13" tom appear to have the original reso heads. Probably the 12 and 16 do also. I'll bet the snare frame is still on the Dynasonic. Jeez, that's a...

Re: Rogers Mardi Gras that got away.

Given that those look completely unrestored, it's very possible that bass and tom aren't B&B shells redrilled for Beavertails. That might be a rare 1963 Mardi Gras bass and tom (end of the Mardi...

Re: Painted Luddy restoration finally done :-)

I can't believe that's the same set. You did a fantastic job. I remember when pearl finishes became so unpopular in the 70's that everyone was stripping shells to the bare wood and staining them,...

Blue Ripple is one of my favorite Rogers wraps, and to have that wrap with Beavertails is unusual, because Blue Ripple was discontinued as a catalog finish the very same year Beavertails were...

Just curious... that's not a Rogers set in the pic with you and Roy Burns, but it appears to have Rogers Memriloc tom mounts. I can't enlarge it enough to see the lugs. Do you remember...

I have a couple silver glass inlays removed from two Rogers 24" hoops. One seems more faded than the other, or they may just be from two different eras. I know one is definitely early...

Re: Windage=Vintage+heavy drinking?

What do you Ludwig guys think of the price? I have no idea of value when it comes to Vistalites. Never owned any.

I do like this guy's ad, but I only take "windage" into consideration when I'm...
