Re: eBay moment

Well, you guys should consider that there are people in other parts of the world, who think these prices would be just fine. Some people spill money in excess of that. Japan, United Arab Emirates,...

Re: The 14x14 Remains Highly Sought

Sorry guys, but I love seeing high prices on vintage drums. I can't afford to spend that kind of money on a drum....but someone can. Anyone who can afford a 12K floor tom and wants it, should have...

Re: Ludwig 3 ply 18" bass drum shell or complete

You will likely never find a 12 X 18 drumset bass drum, but you might find an old marcher. Good luck.

Very unusual. Two strand waxed snare, eh? Wow!

Are you talking about THE Bill Ward from Black Sabbath or BillY Ward from....something (I forget)?

Re: Oyster Blue

I's a shame that people are doing everything the wrong way in hopes that it will be good enough. A big part of the beauty of the old version oyster wraps is that they look that way because of...

Re: finally Dave Weckl on a real drum set! :)

Weckl is an incredible drummer on any drum set. As a younger guy, I wanted to hate him. I think it was that he raised the bar so high, I couldn't see it anymore. And now, at his age, he's in great...

Re: Re 70's Ludwig Supraphonic w/silver badge

I think there is a strong possibility that BEC is correct about the badge supplier being at fault. I can imagine there was a coil of metal that was fed through some kind of conveyor that stamped and...

Re: New Dynomatic Tom Arm

Anything that relies on rubber or plastic or whatever that material is, does not possess the longevity of what I would call a "real" Rogers design. Eventually, it will shrink, crack, deform, etc. It...

Re: 1920s-30s LUDWIG & LUDWIG 10 LUG 5 x 14 WMP/ENGRAVED/GOLD PLATED STANDARD MODEL

damn fancy, Mike! Never saw that before! Your house will need to become a museum one day in the (hopefully long-distant) future! :)

Re: Slingerland denim question

Wow....This must have been Slingerland's response to Ludwig's Black Panther (or visa-versa). Every time one of these two companies did something new or "outrageous", then the other one would follow!...

Re: This is the Display Your Rogers Drums Thread

It's too bad they don't make a reproduction of the B&B lugs -except stronger! That way, all these beautiful kits with cracked B&Bs could use the repros and then save the originals in a box! That's my...

Re: Request info on White Marine Pearl yellowing

It's caused by reactions among adhesive, wrap material, type of colorant used and environment (UV light, smoke, temperature, etc.). Even the type of wood under the wrap would sometimes come through...

Re: Interesting New Ludwig

I'm going to just say it. I think those look butt ugly. Maybe the floor tom legs could be a couple of feet longer, eh? And the dyed oak veneer and mat finish makes them look like fake wood paneling....

Re: Bonham & Vistalites

Pretty amazing that one guy out of billions of guys and millions of drummers could command a sound that we could only study after the fact, huh? Very few drummers have that quality. There are SO many...

New Gretsch vintage

I just saw a video from Maxwell drums and Steve Junior was playing a really sweet looking red wine kit that he ordered and had them do a completely vintage build out....including a rail consolette...

Re: Bearing Edge Odyssey Starts Now

I would recommend that you don't do it! How large a diameter is your largest drum going to be? I can't even imagine trying to cut edges on a bass drum shell without having a dedicated setup for...

Re: Cocktail Drum Outfits

Ah, I see. So, technically, you would need to have a snare drum that had the collet mount and an extra knobby on the floor tom for it to be a Parklane, right? And you would technically need a snare...

Re: Cocktail Drum Outfits

I'm confused...Isn't it a "Parklane" model, though? The one without the tom is the Astoria...right? And your snare is on a floor stand as opposed to shell mounted.

Re: 1959 Gretsch Gold Sparkle

Don't take it personally, Kona. Me and leedybdp have been poking at each other over the issue of cataloged kits vs custom ordered kits for a long time and it looks like it's never going to change. :)...

Re: 1959 Gretsch Gold Sparkle

You answered your own question. The reason why is because the kit in the catalog is a named kit and that information is verifiable through catalog references. The other kit in your hypothetical, does...

Re: 1959 Gretsch Gold Sparkle

That's all well and good for you, but when someone comes here and asks about whether or not the kit they are trying to identify is one of the "suggested" factory configurations and named models, then...

EXCELLENT jda! Thanks.

And again...None of this stuff would have made any difference to anyone, at the time....Now it does, though! Thank God for the catalogs and supplemental information and the...
