Re: Seeking plastic lug for Ludwig Standard snare

The Standard line was around in the very late 60's/early 70's. They dipped into the serial number range of some preceding drums. You are correct in that 83756 would normally be 64/65 for the Classic...

Re: Seeking plastic lug for Ludwig Standard snare

Another thought...if it is indeed plastic, if one has failed the others are right behind at some point. I know this by experience. I've replaced my plastic bowtie lugs with conventional metal lugs so...

Re: Seeking plastic lug for Ludwig Standard snare

Like funkypoodle mentioned, there is a standard/rocker lug(s) that look much the same but have a slightly different hole pattern. Other than that, most all of the snare lugs are the same like Mark...

Re: would appreciate help identefying an old kit

Leedy & Ludwig drums were only made for about 4 or 5 years in the early 50's. Their badge was more oval shaped. To me the outline of the badge looks more like a Leedy badge. I am not certain however....

Re: What's a '60's Ludwig 5.25+" Snare Qualify in terms of size ?...

I've had some 5.25" Jazz Festivals as well. They were marketed as 5" drums. I'd probably refer to it as a 5x14.

Re: Seeking plastic lug for Ludwig Standard snare

I've got plastic lugs on my Ludwig Vistalite Combo kit and my Educator kit. I've seen one Acrolite with plastic lugs. I have not seen a Standard with plastic though. Would be really neat if it was.

Re: 20 Zildjian ride help identify

That appears to be a '50's Small Stamp. Having no three dots up top and have the vertical alignment of the H in Turkish over the E in Made are the telltale signs here. The 70's stamp would not have...

Re: Ludwig Bronze Super-sensitive: Worth it?

I say a big yes. These are great sounding drums. I have a smooth 5x14 bronze Supra, a hammered 5x14 bronze Supra and a 6.5 hammered bronze Super Sensitive. Fine sounding drums, the lot of them.

Re: Need WFL Club Date 15" or 16"

WFL didn't offer a 16" Club Date floor tom. But they did use the 12"x15" size. There are a few floating around. Good luck!

Re: 65 Pioneer Snare bed missing

Almost none is often a good way to describe some from that era. The 50's WFL/Ludwig models had pretty deep beds, but not the mid 60's. Wide shallow beds were often used. You can put the shell on a...

Re: This Is the Display Your Blaemire Drums Thread

Just one here. It too is an original Blaemire drum. Small concert tom, 5.5x8. Black Nitron wrap with Gretsch lugs and a Ludwig mount. Looks like new. When I bought it, it was within 5-10 miles of Mr....

Those look nice. I think 700 is fine on them. Should sound great and they certainly have the look.

I had seen it before and was surprised initially as well. Just had to figure it out where it was that I saw it.

Re: Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl

The '71 catalog has a Rock Duo kit. It is shown with dual virgin 14"x20" bass drums. So there's a possibility.

Re: Ludwig Super Classic or Standards or Anomaly?

Thanks for the clarification on the original wrap that fades KO. My gut said silver but it just didn't make sense when I thought about it.

Re: Need ID Help With Ludwig Drums

3 ply shells with re-rings! Good stuff. Probably a Hollywood kit with the 22/12/13/16 setup. This could easily be transformed into a great looking set with nice value as well.

Re: 1959 Jazz Festival

Mark

I always wonder this as well. The copyright date on the '60 Ludwig catalog is 1959. So I think the last of the transition badge snares like this might be considered Jazz Festivals. Probably...

Re: Need ID Help With Ludwig Drums

Looks to be a 60's Supra like you mentioned. That should be a 70's drum with Oyster Blue wrap. They commonly called that version of the wrap "Bowling Ball".
