Re: Slingerland snare project -- tips??

Looks great! And I really liked Creighton's advice to just clean and wax the exterior...nothing you could have done would have made it look better! I would have gone with his advice to not seal the...

NOT DUAL COLOR!

Yes, modern usage of duco or Duco is often describing a 2 color fade scheme, but a true...

Re: Slingerland grommet tool

Re: Finish for Krylon paint job?

Basically, I'm not sure one can get a good uniform finish on a large drum, even 22" without the overspray drying onto surrounding areas. I was not able to do it after many attempts. It turned out...

Re: Finish for Krylon paint job?

Your are my GURU when it comes to this stuff, but... these are maple outer ply drums (mid 50s Slingerland). There were various reasons the finish was not great, but not related to putting on too much...

Finish for Krylon paint job?

Any recommendations for finishing a Krylon coat that has been wet sanded (because several attempts at spraying a nice finish failed) and polished with 3M Speed Glaze? Do you think it needs protection...

Re: My new best friend. Ultra-Sonic Cleaner.

But these are for cleaning, not polishing, right??

The Harbor Freight vibratory (not roller) tumbler is...

Re: Temple block identification

They look relatively modern as temple blocks go. Can you post a pic of the front? Any writing/markings on them? How about the mounts? Where'd you get them?

Re: Slingerland Radio King Restoration

The absolute best rust/corrosion penetrant is CROIL. Better than anything else, and I've tried them ALL. I soak 100 yr old cornets in them and it works magic. Sanding with 220 or finer will not hurt...

Re: Cymbal experts, I need your help to I.D.

There is one on Ebay currently, ending in a couple days. Looks exactly like mine, but mine is about an inch larger. I'd want $75 for mine.

Re: 3" Elton

That definitely IS a greeko and the photos of GK also show a greeko. They were rather small, not "proper" cymbals, but had same profile of rounded or flattened/rounded bell, very flat bow and a...

Re: Cymbal experts, I need your help to I.D.

They all sound like crap! (and coming from a vintage lover like me....that's sayin' something!). They are heavy and the sizzles don't sizzle much at all unless you really lay into it. I have one for...
