Re: Cornelius Ward 1837 Patent snare drum

Do you mind if I ask why you started two threads on the same subject with the same wording?

Re: Cornelius Ward 1837 Patent snare drum

Fascinating. Every time I go to Gettysburg, I'm tempted to spend way too much money on a Civil War field drum, as there are always examples for sale in the various military shops. Most of them come...

Re: Not Vintage tell me about Stagg cymbals

Anytime. Thanks.

I was heavily into cymbals about 10-15 years ago. I was a member of cymbalholic and had a friend who was a total cymbal maven. I bumped into him in a music store a few weeks ago....

Reason Why This Luxor Snare is So Expensive?

I found this on Ebay just now and was stunned by the asking price. It's in the stratosphere.

Is there a reason why? Or, is this just another delusional seller? It's a Luxor snare in a common...

Re: Not Vintage tell me about Stagg cymbals

You're welcome. I hope I didn't sound harsh. You must have seen some real cheap crap. I have never seen Stagg cymbals like that, just the better ones. And the ones I've tried lately are very nice....

Re: Tons of Vintage Drums and Parts to Sell

I clicked on your link, and all I found were videos of bands playing covers. Can you supply us with a direct link to your video, please? Either that, or list what you have for sale here. Thanks.

Beverley 22.4" Ride

That mystery cymbal I mentioned in the Zyn thread is less of a mystery now. I finally found a very faint stamping on top that says, "Beverley Made In England" on it. I'm assuming these were made by...

Re: Zyn Cymbals

I have a 22" ride cymbal of indeterminate origin that I believe is a Zyn or a Krut. There are no markings, a total mystery. It looks like it was burned in a fire or subjected to water damage, because...

Nice. I'm glad you haven't parted with these beauties. We're on total lock down here in Jersey. I'm glad all my drums are right here at home.

Re: Not Vintage tell me about Stagg cymbals

They are absolutely not toys. I got a great deal on some Stagg cymbals years ago at Alto Music in Middletown, NY. They were salesmen's samples. I got a ride, two crashes and a splash for $250 total....

Re: I'd very much like to hear this one

There used to be a guy on cymbalholic and DFO who called himself Kstasher. As you might imagine, he was buying old K's left and right. It very well could be the guy trying to sell this 18". He was...

Since no one else has bothered to be the first to respond (because this place is like a morgue sometimes), you are most welcome, Catherine. As you found out, Mark is nice guy and very positive force...

Re: Premier APK

I think it's a good deal. You have little to lose. I like the satin flame. Go for it.

UPDATE: I just checked online. It appears the shells are eucalyptis/merranti, whatever that is. Another guy...

Re: Ludwig Spotlight

Mark, if you like the two-tone lacquer look, maybe try to find one of those Pork Pie Hip Pig lacquer sets used with the center lugs. GC was selling them several years ago and they still do. They...

Re: Ludwig 1976 "Pro Beat" drums for sale

I don't blame you for not wanting to ship those big drums. Good luck selling them.

Re: Big R Price Check

Actually, that would be a good gigging set and you could sell the extra toms or just put them in storage. The price is good. Maybe you can knock them down to $599.

Re: Ludwig Spotlight

I did a gig last year way out in York, PA with my friend, cigar box guitar maven Shane Speal, and I used a snare and bass drum, with hats and a crash/ride. It forced me to be creative with very...

Seriously, Mark. What are you going to do with those? Gig them? I don't think so, do you?
That set was made back in the day when hobby drummers only needed a snare and bass drum and music was much...

Re: Big R Price Check

Nice price, but do you need that many drums? There's a guy around here selling a Big R set in that orange finish and he won't budge from $999. It's 12/13/16/22. They're in great shape, but...

Re: Taiwan Made Drums

I think Corona beer has gone viral too. When I heard that people were not buying Corona beer, I thought that was one of the stupidest things I ever heard.
