Re: Reason Why This Luxor Snare is So Expensive?

Well...at the moment, people are hoarding toilet paper and rubbing alcohol...some willing to accept the price gouging going on over it all...It's really just a matter of priority. If you want a drum...

Re: Is there any interest in Marchers anymore?

I'd only be interested in the really old ones from the Civil War...Or maybe a really nice rope tensioned one just for decoration....But for all practical reasons...no.

Re: Time For Some Fun

Well...hmmm...does a nice set of bongos count as drums? I always thought Ginger and Maryann were capable of living the deserted island life....but Mrs Howell can bow out.....

Re: Reason Why This Luxor Snare is So Expensive?

Well, since I'M not interested in buying it, I just find it kind of amusing. I hope someone buys it for that price, though. There are people out there who can easily afford it. Heck...If I win the...

Re: Reason Why This Luxor Snare is So Expensive?

^^^^Yep and I wouldn't give half of that for a Luxor, either....but that's me. I'm a Ludwig man when it comes to snare drums. ;)

Re: Reason Why This Luxor Snare is So Expensive?

Says he will entertain best offers...Offer him....less...if you want it. Otherwise, what difference does it make? This stuff happens all the time. Someone has no idea what to ask for a price, but...

Re: Hope All Are Well!

Happy Birthday.

I'm not too worried about all this virus...but more concerned with panic from the worriers. I've struggled with dilemmas all my life...I am a musician, after all. I've lived with...

Re: Unpopular Drum Opinions-Post em Here!

I don't argue about which drummer was good or not, but I can't imagine the Beatles without Ringo just because he was the perfect fit to the rest of the band. But it guts me every time I think of Pete...

Re: Unpopular Drum Opinions-Post em Here!

#1.) Too many "monster" drummers spewed out of too many music schools with staff comprised of "used-to-be" famous drummers who end up as teachers because that's the only way left to make a reasonable...

Re: Ludwig Speed King 2020 Reissue question.

LOL! The original Speedking pedal is just like any other piece of vintage gear -it has its strong points and it has its weak points. Of course, the knowledge about what's good and bad takes time. The...

Re: Original WMP bought new at plant

Fifty years ago, if I'd have seen a picture of a kit like that, then I would dream about it all the time. I used to love big kits with strings of tom toms....If it had been up to me, then I would...

Re: John Bonham during first four minutes of Stairway To Heaven

You know you're old when you use the Muppets to reference John Bonham, and no one knows who the Muppets are.

Re: Bop/Jazz Kits

LOL. My first set of drums (Tempro) cost my folks ~$200 in 1970....

I looked up an inflation calculator website and that $200 is now equivalent to over $1, 300

Re: Bop/Jazz Kits

I'm on the West coast and drove a 1969 Karmann Ghia to my gigs and I had to make my own bop kit that was much smaller than the standard 12,14,18 kits. I never had to deal with the subway (Thank...

Re: Bop/Jazz Kits

Yeah I wish I would have had access to a kit like the Catalina Club when I was starting out. My first kit was a Tempro and it was junk....but I still loved it. Even with the Chinese aspect to many...
