Re: My Story

Wow, Johnny, I’m really sorry to hear about your troubles.

I haven’t been here in awhile, and to see this really hurt. I mean, I don’t know you except through here, but I always enjoyed your posts...

Re: Hello......Is This Thing Working?

That’s a great post Tommyp.

But as you can see, you posted that at 9:39 this morning and no responses until this one after 3 pm. Your response explained so much and was so informative, you would...

Re: Hello......Is This Thing Working?

Thanks Kevin, your thoughtful response is appreciated!

My numbers look good but I did a lot to keep my own threads going to be honest, and I guess that’s ok, but I don’t always want to do that....

Re: Hello......Is This Thing Working?

I haven’t been here in awhile myself, and I almost hate to post in this thread, because this was the first drum forum I joined and the guys here were really helpful. But yeah, it’s just to dead here...

Re: MIJ kit on Ebay

Shipping has gone crazy in the last couple of years, and it is making a difference in what I buy these days.

I'm not even sure why it's so high because fuel has been very low for the last 4...

I guess I'm one of the newer guys here, but I really appreciate all the help Ive gotten on this forum. I knew little about vintage drums when I got here, but you guys, and especially Mark, have made...

Re: How will live music performance change in the (near) future?

I didn't post a video, nor did I endorse any, so yeah, I think I'm in the right forum and trying to answer the OPs question.

Re: How will live music performance change in the (near) future?

Well, we had a beautiful day here in NYC yesterday, and everyone was out in droves! Beaches and boardwalks were packed and parks they can't close were also crowded. While there are people that are...

Re: How will live music performance change in the (near) future?

I can speak as a New Yorker. I live in Queens, which was the center of the epicenter. The pandemic was very real here. Everyone knows multiple people who have died or been sick. I was sick myself. So...

Re: Slingerland Black Diamond Pearl

I agree.

While they can be pretty awkward and generally a pain in the neck when trying to position your tom, once it's set, it's set. And you can get it in almost any position, so I'm not sure...

Re: Slingerland Black Diamond Pearl

Maybe you can go with the mount I pictured below. They're cheap and much simpler with less things to go wrong. Just a thought...

Re: New MIJ find - Cadet badge - any input

Yeah, that looks like a great pick-up. Heck, you can't buy a decent lunch for $25!

I don't know from experience, but I hear the center lug MIJs can be a little on the flimsy side, so maybe you...

Re: Need recommendation for a set of drum silencers

I don't have experience with anything you mentioned, but I did do the "Ringo trick" drumFX mentioned for a time using thin dish rags and it worked pretty darn well at muffling. Rebound of course...

Re: Help identifying this kit please.

I don't see that as a pile of scrap. They look pretty decent to me.

Looking at the interior of the bass drum, they are not some cheap MIJ stencil kit. The wood looks better than luan. Must be a...

Re: Stan Leveys Ludwig drums

I read his book, Stan Levey - Jazz Heavyweight, and it really got me going on his drumming. He had a great life story, not all good, but very interesting. He played with most of the greats of jazz...

Re: Leedy

DrumBob has a Leedy in this same color, so I agree, it could be original. This color seems kind of rare except on Leedy kits. I'm not sure why, it's a pretty color.

That price looks pretty good...

Re: Reason Why This Luxor Snare is So Expensive?

Re: Time For Some Fun

Ah yes, Joe Morello!

All around good guy and a real standout drummer. And I could actually survive, and probably even enjoy, quarantine time with him, unlike Buddy Rich, whom I'd probably have to...
