Re: Another Leedy Returns

Seller's remorse! Now you know to not let it go again.

I'm a Slingerland player myself, but I have to say if I could wave a wand and have my kit's lugs turn into the Leedy style, I'd do it. Best...

Do these seem more like it:

Re: What's with Acrolite (and Blackrolite) prices?

This.

Gotta remember: asking prices are not selling prices. Seeing them listed for $325 does in no way indicate that they are "going for" $325. Check the Sold Listings for a better idea.

Re: Two estate sale finds

That P83 isn't original, is it?

If not, it can be shined up and flipped for some nice pocket money.

Re: future of drumheads

There's also the strange fact that when new drummers go to certain online forums and ask about tuning methods, there are people there who discourage them from using any of the devices that can help...

Re: future of drumheads

I'm not giving up my mylar heads unless something comes along that performs better than they do. Mylar heads killed calfskin because they work better.

Tuning is enough of a pain that I don't...

Re: The 5 snares every drummer should own-The "Iconic" Snares

For me, after a couple we may all agree on, it's not about specific ones so much as flavors.

First, one must have an Acrolite (any finish). I have to force myself not to put mine on the stand,...

Re: Painted Luddy restoration finally done :-)

The eternal VDF question: what were they THINKING?

Beautiful restoration. One really must ask the eternal question when the wrap and hardware that was under the housepaint is so lovely!

Who...

Re: Performance Disaster

Oh that is awful, because there are only about 6 snare hits in the entire arrangement until the lead vocal starts going on about what an amazing cat John Shaft is, it's this amazing slow long simmer...

Re: Clean up / mini restoration of dream kit.

Mm, nice lookin' tubs.

Are you going to go with the matching hi-hat and bass pedal? Stands?

My favorite hat stand is my solid board "Big R" Rogers Supreme.

Re: Rack tom choke issue

The rack toms on my Slingerland kit are mounted on that notoriously awful contraption, the Set-O-Matic, and there were two "gadgets" that helped me totally overcome its shortcomings.

First was...

Re: Camco or Gretsch Floating Action pedal???

If it were me, I would go for the one I had the fewest (or none) of, and if that were not a factor, then the one that is the most useful, as far as adjustments go.

The position of that pin sets...

Oddball old DW5000 pedal

I picked this up at a music gear swap back in February and hadn't gotten around to posting a photo of it, but the thread about the vintage Camco inspired me.

Checking out CL and responding to ads...

Re: Vintage Camco 5000 Bass Drum Pedal

OMG, hilarity! bbeyer and K.O. we are all of the brotherhood of the lightweight footboard! This is blowing my mind, I really thought I must be the only lunatic on Earth to have done this.

I'd been...

Re: Rogers Gina Schock SuperTen Authenticated

Coulda been a hip artist relations manager at Rogers during that time period. Or none of the older established artists wanted to work with them....

Re: Ludwig snare identification

Hmm. I'd go with K.O. on the refinished Rocker, but the 10-lug configuration is throwing me off.

I have a good-sounding 6.5" Rocker II with a P-85 and Standard lugs, but it only has 8 of them.

Re: Calato Regal Tip Pedal

Whoa, just did a Google Image Search for this. That is sort of an unusual looking design, but looks very adjustable.

I've been through a few, and what works the best for me are the ones I've...

The tip on the Vic Firth American Jazz Series is somethin' else, man. I guess it's what they call the "acorn," but whatever, it makes my vintage Zildjians sound outta sight!

Re: This is Display Your Duco Drums Thread

Beautiful, and I always love to see the less-common combinations.

Not that I don't love gold-on-black, that's what my WFL Deems/Swingster is, and what I'm going to paint my no-name Taiwan kit, but...

Re: Picked up a Ruether Drum Kit

DrummerJohn pretty much pointed out everything that I wanted to; your kit looks like Christmas morning 1979!

I thought it was gorgeous from the front and sides, but then the aerial shot put it...

Re: Slingerland Pop outfit 85N resto

Beautiful! I actually like the greening of the wrap. Did it come with the Krupa Sound King snare and the flat base stands?

As for the sloppy re-ring, yeah, I wound up cutting new bearing edges on...

Re: Can you name these vintage drum wraps? Quiz on Reverb....

Wow, 7/10 seems to be pretty standard. I got hung up on the "Astro" vs. "Satin Flame" and "Psychedelic" vs. "Mod" also the Camco 3-D. My guess is that I am not alone in that.

12/13 on the badges....
