Re: Are Yamaha Drums Good?

I never owned a Yamaha kit, but I bought a Yamaha Oak Custom 7 x 14 snare drum a couple of weeks ago. It's definitely a quality instrument.

Re: Harp Rig - Check it Out

Thanks! Your barbell solution is a great idea. I have used a sandbag for years thrown over the 'outer' leg of the mic stand to keep it from tipping over. As you know, you need to extend the mic boom...

Re: Harp Rig - Check it Out

Thanks. The mic is an old Shure 520SL original magnetic transducer. It was a school PA system mic I found in a junk store about 20 years ago for about 2 bucks. I removed the desk stand and rewired it...

Re: Harp Rig - Check it Out

Yeah, the kit's good and loud, alright. I also recently added a Yamaha 7 x 14 Oak Custom Snare to the kit. Damn, that thing is loud.

Re: Harp Rig - Check it Out

I absolutely know what you mean. Blues harp takes more than your lips and airway to play. Standing free, you put your hands, arms, legs....even your ass into it. However, I can't do that and play the...

Re: Concert Tom Revival?

Awesome website, Jon. I couldn't agree with you more about the aesthetic value of concert toms. You seem very passionate about them. I have to say, I saw Weird Al and you guys live at Weber State...

Re: Slingerland Festival

Nice snaredrums, aren't they? As I said above, I picked it up for a backup to my Dynasonic in case I bust a head at a gig. Now that I've been using it, I just keep on using it. It sounds great for...

Re: '92 Premier Projectors

Any idea why this drum didn't come with an internal damper? Is that something common with these snares?

Re: '92 Premier Projectors

As far as I know the snare drum originally came with the kit. However, I can't seem to match it up with any of the snare drums listed in the 1992 catalog. The closest looks like the 2055 but I don't...

Re: '92 Premier Projectors

The kit in the video is my old Slingerland kit. I'll post some new video with the Premiers within the next couple of weeks. And, yes, the new kit was a sweet deal.

Re: '92 Premier Projectors

I'm not sure what you mean by "beefed-up" but if you're referring to how well they sound, all I can say is, "damn!" They certainly nailed it when they called them Projectors. They're bright and loud....
