Re: 1941 Swing Sensation "Top Hat and Cane" Original

Just Incredible. Frankly, I hope you can convince the owner into contacting Steve Maxwell, as other's have suggested, so that he could consign them for her and her family. A set this special needs to...

Re: Matched date ludwig wmp kit value

If you were selling them on the open market, of course matched dates increase the value of a collectable kit. Now will your friend agree, that's the question. But then you have to ask, why does he...

Re: Help IDing a Rogers set.

I saw the ad, and would be more interested in the contents of the Zildjian cymbal case.

Re: Pearl killer free floating maple snare

The catalog shot looks like 14x8, not 14x14. I have a second gen maple pearl 14x8 FF, probably the most articulate snare I own.

Re: fibes snare

Wow, that came out quite nice! How much did the copper run you to wrap the shell?

The garage mates are swell as well. Don't see too many Toronados.

Re: Bumping my real Rogers question... is this crazy??

My moral dilemma was much easier, as my donors were full length 14" from a single tension Mercury. I cut them down for my Spotlite kit, which is the 50's version of a 60's Tower center lug. I only...

You can do that yourself with a tap and die set. I've done it.

Re: Fair Price on a Rogers Holiday?

I would only buy that set if I needed the BDP 14" floor tom. Which I don't, because I already have two.

But if I did need it, and there were enough solid B&b's to complete the FT, I would...

Re: WFL Damen Ave Gold Sparkle Find!!

Hey guys, I'm feelin the love! :^o

Only calf was on the 13 reso side, and tissue thin in spots, but it still resonates reasonably.

Here's a couple more shots ....

Re: WFL Damen Ave Gold Sparkle Find!!

Was able to set these up in my attic studio this weekend and take a few pics. These are still in 'as found' condition, and are simply amazingly clean for a late 40s/early 50s kit.

Looks to me...

Re: Rogers Drums

Dan is of course correct, and those two drums are most likely going to be 5 ply, not 3 ply.

Re: Question ?

Yeah, I'm confused by the question. I don't recall any non-metal Tama line in the 70's or 80's that weren't made of 'real' wood. Birch, maple, cordia high end kits, snares up to rosewood....

Re: Rogers 1958 B & B Restoration

I affirm amosguy's opinion even more strongly regarding the value of reinforced B&B lugged kits. Unless you have the special early prototype lugs, ALL b&b's will eventually crack, it's just a matter...

Re: Rogers Drums Score

Attached is a shot of the kick from my late 50s rogers eagle badge spotlight kit. Not sharp edges at all. This kit is a very early example of the swivomatic era, so should be right at 1958.
