Re: Leedy Project Begins

Leedy,
I recently recovered a drum with Precision’s “Charcoal Pearl.” Here it is posing with my 1957 WFL New Yorker. The New Yorker is Sky Blue Pearl which, contrarily, darkened over the years...

Re: Sonor Teardrop

I believe it’s referred to as TV wrap, because it resembles the horizontal lines of an old CRT television. Don’t think that was the official name for it, though.

Re: Weird stand??

Agree with Mark. Combination of:
1. Slingerland straight cymbal stand
2. Slingerland boom arm with counterweight
3. Two Pearl wingnuts
4. Somebody with spare time on their hands.

Re: Wet sanding to remove paint from WMP

I followed this guy’s technique to bring back a green light blue pearl tom back to light blue. It may work for paint removal too.

Re: Slingerland Black Diamond Pearl

I was a purist and would not use a snare stand at any cost. I thought it looked terrible. Then I finally tried it. The position was slightly improved, as was the flexibility to move it more...

Re: How Many Vintage Drums Do You Own?

Three drum sets: 1 Ludwig, 1 WFL, 1 Slingerland, each set represents a decade.

Re: Would You

Hmm. The only negatives I see are the bass drum: extra holes from a saddle mount and missing one hoop inlay strip. Positives: champagne sparkle, 14” FT. I don’t think $900 is unreasonable. Just my...

Poetman,
I have one or two that look like that. Can you try and determine what the thread size is?

I’ll be happy to mail it to you if I have it.

Re: Is there any interest in Marchers anymore?

Speaking only for myself, I have no qualms whatsoever of using one in place of a floor tom,
But I would have no use for a marching snare as a snare.

You don’t happen to have a sky blue pearl...

Re: Good Price on Acro

Thanks, all. A semi-local (an hour away) wants $150. Not really in the market for a snare, but if it was a steal, I would steal it.

Gonna pass. Too far to travel.

Re: **RARE** Big R New Mahogany with 14"x20" BD, 4 pc set with '67 COB Dyna-Sonic sna

Darren,
Nice set. It never occurred to me before that I have never seen a 20” bass in the memriloc era.

Good price!

Good luck with the sale.

Re: What is this piece of hardware?

I believe that’s a hoop-mounted cymbal holder from way back, maybe the 30’s or 40’. Picture it holding a cymbal upside down, with the large pad cushioning the bass drum shell. Lots of the cymbals in...
