Re: Old K Alert...Old K Alert.. Man your stations man your stations...

I watched a couple of videos where some guy who is the head of cymbal making at Zildjian was talking with John Riley about vintage...

Re: Carl F Ludwig Rope Tension snare drum?

Maybe it's his own personal drum and he had a badge made for it....???? Or, maybe he made the badge himself if it's the same inventor/drummer....????

That would be my guess at this point. If he...

Re: Carl F Ludwig Rope Tension snare drum?

I just skimmed a bit through some other searches and there are several patents attributed to a Carl F. Ludwig, as well....not sure if it's the same guy or not.

Re: Which Ludwig Is This?

No. It is very uncommon for the grommets to fall out....but I suppose it can happen. Usually, a missing grommet is the result of someone removing or replacing a badge.

The grommet is the way the...

I can't hear a thing you guys just said.

Noise induced hearing loss here, too.....In the old days, I would put on my pair of Stanton headphones (you know the ones...the huge, blue ones that...

Re: Poor economy for drummers, or something else?

I feel ya, man...I remember when I said goodbye to most of my first real drum set. I felt like it was looking at me when I walked out the door of the drum shop...all the memories associated with them...

Re: How many of you are still friends with old bandmates?

Wow....Great stories. I guess I'm kind of a sad sack by comparison. So many people came through, did some work and then they left off to be sidemen in some touring band. I hated the road and when I...

How many of you are still friends with old bandmates?

Just curious...Me? I keep in touch with very few of the old band members I've worked with over the years, Seems like when a band breaks up, lots of the members are often relieved to not have to...

Re: Prices

I feel great when vintage drum prices go up. Why shouldn't they when vintage Fender and Gibson guitars do the same? The basic reason is the same -they aren't made anymore and (some) people are...

Re: Old Ludwig’s

Wow! The more I see, the more I believe! The vintage edges that I THOUGHT were always 30 degree bevels....are turning out to look like 45 degree bevels, instead. VERY interesting! (to me) lol!

Re: Is Anyone Still Using This Forum?

It would sure be nice if we could update the badge date information that is apparently in need of updating. I would rather see the corrected stuff posted here than I would to buy a booklet or...

Re: Is Anyone Still Using This Forum?

Well, the deal is that only players' kits are on the market. The true collector's stuff is off the table and has been for quite awhile. The stuff that has to be "given away" is the...

Re: Poor economy for drummers, or something else?
