    Hi Mark,

Thanks for the nice picture of the black diamond pearl Headliner. Would your files happen to hold a nice one of a Top Hat in blue onyx?

    Thanks,

    Dan Boucher

Hi Bob. Very true that there have been times that VDF does seem like a morgue! And then there are times where there is quite a bit of action. VDF has been around for quite some time now, and I've no doubt that many members have become frustrated with this.

I haven't spoken with TommyP in quite some time now. Interesting that you considered buying VDF. Like you said, maybe it's better for you to move on?

I appreciate the input you have offered while you were a member and thank you for the compliments you gave me!

Honestly, as I get a bit older, I find it more of a chore to be involved with forums in general.

Best of luck to you, Bob! You've been really appreciated!

Hey Mark, once again, I have to say, this is the DEADEST forum I have ever seen. You check things out and come back an hour later, and...nothing at all. Nothing has changed, meaning nobody has posted here in what seems like hours and even days. I'm sorry, but I need more action.

It's time for me to move on, I think. I'll stop back now and then, but my daily visits here are likely over. This forum is a morgue. It's finished.

I'll go on the record to say that well over a month ago, I inquired about buying VDF from the founder/owner. To date, I have not had a response, which goes to show you that he's become complacent and unwilling to change anything here. According to TommyP, that's correct. The owner unwilling to upgrade the forum in any way. He's lost interest. I have lost interest, as have many others.

Take care of yourself and thanks for all the good vibes. I was going to post this publicly, but decided to just let you know.

    Bob

Hi Mark, been awhile since I have been on the forum, had some health issues. Any way, got a couple of questions to ask. First, still looking for my sparkling orange pearl, in 2R. But did run across a 76 51N, in blue jean cover, good investment? 800.? Also was looking at Broadcaster, very expensive, 3K. Thanks for your time, Bucky

Hello. I found some photos of your slingerland silver sparkle with the maxwells rail mount. When I have it in the position you had the bottom rim of the 12" rubs against the mount. Any ideas on how to "fix" this?

    Hi Bucky,

This whole thing about Slingerland offering a "Root Beer" finish has been hotly debated! The majority of experts, including Dr. CJwenk, say it is faded "Sparkling Black Pearl". However, a kit recently sold from Steve Maxwell and he states that the finish is most definitely Root Beer, with no evidence of fading. So, I just don't know! However, trying to find another one would be like trying to find "Sparkling Orange Pearl"!

    Hi Mark,
Bucky ( Iamdrummer), I have another question that you may be able to help me with. I saw a 70,s slingerland set, modern solo ( I think), but the guy stated that it is root beer color. My question did Slingerland make a Modern Solo in root beer, the serial numbers are 28000 to 30000. (can't find it in my 2004 book) or is this a black sparkle faded? I saw them on CL in Kansas City, they were posted by someone couple of weeks ago on Vintage Drum Forum. As always, thanks...Bucky

Hi Tommy! I had a request from you to be a "friend" so I accepted it! We've had a warm winter, but had a small amount of rain last night with a large storm just behind it.

As for myself, it's been a very difficult 3 months. My dad passed away November 20 of pancreatic cancer. He was only diagnosed October 18. I went from a fairly carefree lifestyle to a 24/7 caregiver almost overnight. We are blessed that dad passed so quickly and didn't suffer as much as others with the same disease.

Two weeks after his passing, mom broke her left ankle. She was in a cast for 8 weeks. Now, just before the end of this 8-week period, mom came down with the H1N1 flu, even though she was vaccinated for it in September. Mom was in the hospital for 3 days and has now been home for almost a month and doing better. Not perfect, but better.

    So, that's my life!
    Mark
