Steel hoops for 60s Ludwig Supraphonic available?

What guage/weight/mm hoops are appropriate replacements for 1960s Supraphonic Snare drums? I have a '64 and '71. The '71 came with two hoops of different weights (Top 520g; Bottom 440g) - what is correct?

1. Do Ludwig make suitably light gauge steel hoops for vintage Supras?
2. Is there another manufacturer who specialises in reprod steel hoops?
3. Can anyone recommend a seller/collector/repairer who might stock period-specific steel hoops (anywhere worldwide is fine)?

Bump bump bump are you sure that top rim is not brass?? the heavy one, also ludwig now uses heavier gauge rims on their drums from gibralter,,Clapping Happy2

Both hoops are definitely steel.

I did find some repro 1.6mm hoops that are actually lighter than the originals (approx. 400 g each). These give the drum more brightness, but not as much midrange cut that my other 1964 Supras have (one has steel hoops, the other COB).

I personal myself prefer brass rims to steel anyway, it improves the entire drum dynamic's all the way across the tuning spectrum, perfect example i took my keystone badge acrolite with brass rims and puresounds snare wires it will go toe to toe with any snare drum out there!!

Where did you get repro COB hoops?

there 100% factory. no repros!! my keystone acrolite had them, got the others for my kits off ebay, old destroyed drums Etc!!
