Hi vintage friends. I have an opportunity to buy this kit and was wondering what their worth is or if it's a good deal. Here's what their is original 14x22 bass, looks like 13" tom and 5 x 14 snare. He additionally has a 12" rack and 14" floor that somewhat matches the rest of the kit but not the same vintage. He has the bottom tom rims but not the bass drum rim. He's asking $485. Love to get ya'lls opinion.

Technically, these are not a "Ringo" kit since they are black diamond pearl and Ringo played black oyster pearl.......probably worth the asking price if they are still in round and the bearing edges on the bottoms aren't all trashed.

Yeah, it's not a Ringo kit. The value is dependent on the condition -as stated already.

Thanks guys. I haven't checked them out in person yet to see what the bearing surface looks like. Plus it looks to me like the floor and 12 don't quite match color wise. I'll go look at them this weekend.

Make sure to check out the bearing edges and how "in round" the drums are. Also, see if there's extensive pitting/rusting of the hardware. Ask if he has the missing hardware laying around somewhere.

It looks like the 12 and 14 match, while the 13 and 22 match as well. I don't think you'd be able to tell if you were on stage under some colored lights, unless you looked really hard. Any other gig condition, though, the color difference between the 12 and 13 would be very noticeable. For the price though, if they're in good shape, I'd definitely go for it. Then, I'd look for a 20" bass drum (to add to the the 12 and 14) and a 16" floor tom (for the 13 and 22), and have 2 kits for fairly cheap. But, that's just me.

Yeah, like he said. At least one of those toms doesn't look like it matches the rest. But BDP is hard to photograph sometimes, the closest drum washes out in pics.

It's a pretty good price if in good shape.

There worth it. In my opinion at least. I'm sure they would clean up great.

I don't know if it's ever been done but you could try fading the drums in the sun to match the others. Might not be the best idea but it would make the set look cooler. And if your never gonna sell it. Do with it what you please.
