Hello everybody.
I'm a percussionist, but in no way a specialist in cymbals, but i know what i like when i hear it...
I need some hihats pretty quick, contacted a guy who's selling these

Says he got them in a jazz school in california, can anyone help me out recognizing this stamp? It's been worn down a bit.
Thanks

Rob

That's a pretty early trademark probably from the 20's.

But just so you know, those won't be cymbals made for use as hi-hats. These will be marching band/symphonic cymbals. That doesn't mean that you can't use them for that purpose though. Many have and have found them to be satisfactory in their opinion. But just get prepared for some pretty chunky sounding hi-hats, that's all.

They'll be roughly the same weight as the contemporary Avedis Zildjian Constantinople hi-hats that they're making now. But certainly not what you might consider to be a traditional jazz weight, that's for sure.

Wow, thanks for the quick response
Yeah, I was wondering if they were made as symphonic cymbals... the bottom one weighs 903 grams with three holes drilled, and the top is actually an avedis zildjian made in the usa, lighter, so it should be a little less clunky sounding
Anyway, I'll go try them out
Thanks for the tips

Well I'm assuming that these are 14", and if that is the case then 903 gms is a pretty decent weight for a hi-hat cymbal, even by jazz standards These things usually weigh in the neighborhood of 1050 gm to 1250 gms.

Sorry, wasn't too clear in the initial post. They're 13", and the top is an avedis made in the states, and it's lighter
