Help me ID this Leedy snare

Someone recently gave me a snare drum that I could use some help identifying.

Badge: it has a 'Leedy' badge, blue oval with '48' after the word Chicago, which dates it 1956-1966. . ???

It is 8 inches tall and has 8 lugs.

It is wood, of which type I do not know.
It is possible that it was stripped, but I don't know.
The strainer has been replaced.

If anyone has a clue, or some photos or links to photos of similar snares, it would help....

Looks to me like it has seen better days.

The grommet looks like it was removed??

The drum is called the Leedy Broadway Model, stack saver hoops in Mahogany finish. It would not suprise me if the finish is original.

Is it 6 1/2 x 14 or 8 x 14?

The tone control is also missing the knob (at least)

It's 8x14.
And yes, it has seen better days.
A few things have been removed, as I gather that the previous owner did regard it for its' worth or historical value, but just as any old snare drum.

Is it worth restoring a bit. . .?
Shall I sell it?
Play it?

The lugs and the hoops (rims) do have some value. The drum as a drum
based on the modifications is surely a player drum.

If we look at the parts needed here is a ball park figure.

The strainer is probably a Leedy 3-point and I would guess $100 - $150.

The Tone arm is going to be $24 and up.

The badge is probably going to be between $30 and $60.

It will probably end up being about $200 for parts on the high end, if you do not get lucky or find a low Buy It Now on Ebay.

Yes, you might find the parts cheeper.

You will probably get over $100 for the lugs and the hoops which should be brass.

I do not think it is worth a complete restoration in this case. As always if your late great grandfather had the drum and you want it back to the way you remember it then it is worth restoring and it will take time.
