Im 16 and been playing for 2 years. I bought this snare with my first set froma guy for 200 bucks including cymbals and all. I was just wondering if anyone could help me find out the year or anything about it. Its serial is 3039268. Its a metal drum, i think chrome or steel. its 8 x 16 10 lugs. I also have a tama rockstar dx 22 bass 12 14 16 toms. If anyone oculd help me with either of these i would be very appriciative of it. Thanks.

Did you visit the serial number page for Ludwig??
Here is a link (http://www.vintagesnaredrums.com/serial_numbers.html)
Give that a shot and let us know if you find it.
Also, a picture would be great for us to look at.

It's a 1980's Ludwig Blue & Olive badge Supraphonic 400 snare drum. The shell is aluminum alloy. It's a very good-sounding and well-known/well-liked snare drum. That model has been around for decades and decades in one form or another....the earlier versions of this drum had brass shells.
The chrome on those commonly flakes off because chrome did not "stick" to the aluminum alloy.
You need to go to the local drum shop and get some real snare chords and get a couple of new heads. It looks as if those lug screws are screwed in pretty far -especially on the bottom head. A little tweaking and you should have a great sounding snare drum that will definitely sound better than almost anything "new" on the market (in my opinion).

Well...your drum has the pitting on the chrome...
If you really clean it up well and get it into perfect working order, it might be worth $150-$200....That's MY guess.
