This is a 1951 Photo at the New York Convention Center. I wonder how much that Buddy Rich cardboard cut-out would sell for today!

Hmmm.... goes without saying that I would LOVE to have that cardboard cut-out of BR in my Buddy Rich collection! Cool thing is, I already have the kit!! :-)

This pic looks older than 1951 to me. I am guessing it might be either late 1947 or sometime in 1948. I noticed that there are no speed king pedals with the current design. I think WFL senior introduced that pedal sometime in 1948-49.

This display is probobly a showing of the new offerings to feature classic lugs. All the bass drum pedals shown look like the versions from the late 30's. The snare have a 1940's throw-off that was replaced by the 1950's and none of the bass drums are drilled for spurs. I think WFL started having spurs installed by 1951. The hi-hat stands also look like 1930's models. Very cool indeed. When I enlarge it I feel I can almost jump in there! I wish I could see the beautiful colors!

Nice photo!
Are those parade twirling batons hanging on the wall?

The duco kit in the corner is the same as I have ready to be restored...Same jazz fest snare and 22" bass, 14" ft and 13" upper, except mine is the later Keystone model. Imagine that!!

I'd like to share my contribution to this Buddy Rich posting! I had the chance to see Buddy performing at Disneyland, summer, around 1979 I believe. The band had just taken a break and Buddy was walking off stage. I got up the nerve to approach Buddy and ask for his autograph. The only thing I had at the time was a dollar bill for him to sign. Buddy graciously autographed it! As you can see, Buddy signed it upside down. I didn't have the nerve to ask him to flip the dollar bill right-side up! It's been sitting in a box, in a plastic bag, all these decades! You'd think I would have framed it by now. Am I just lazy?!!

I feel I was very lucky to have seen Buddy perform 3 times. Twice at Disneyland and once in Long Beach. I sat only a few feet away from his drums at that performance. I miss you, Buddy!!

Look to the lower left of Buddy......see the "two tone" floor tom? That must have been a dealer model to show around. I doubt that was ever available for sale to a store.
